I think that the comment "but we know some members lack any common sense so we've listed them here" is very disrespectful.

The following rules and guidelines on forum decency or "netiquette" are all mostly common sense, but we know some members lack any common sense so we've listed them here for you to review and hopefully abide by:

It was the 'lack any common sense' bit which is harsh, but I realise what you are trying to emphasize. Just thought I would point it out as the rest of the initial comment is fairly weighted and thought out.

The thing about common sense pre-dates my time here; I assume it was written for Nintendo Life many years ago. I'll see if we can get it updated at some point.

Haha that sentence made me laugh (in a good way) I understand how its meant and I think everyone in this thread does too. When I just joined there was a couple of times when someone didn't follow any netiquette - literally harassing people. Or attacking people or starting crazy subjects. These tended to be people who had just signed up. There was an example of two people arguing in a forum post who I had never seen or heard of before. Total madness. I think that's why the mandate is in place.

I wind people up sometimes, but I will always apologise - its in my nature. I'm like Paul Gascoigne of pushsquare members, except im not friends with Raul Moat or beat up my wife. Its difficult to sometimes see the difference especially in a written statement. Anyone who's played online with me will know I literally take the mick 24/7 but that could come across as callous if you didn't know me. Maybe there should be a way to contact members - especially long term subscribers we are all intelligent, if we ever say something beyond the pale.
