@RubyCarbuncle I totally get that some people like shorter games and whatnot. Great for anyone who does. But for me as an individual, that's a huge let down. I generally play one game at a time, for about two months, and I like to put a ton of time into it, get everything out of it that I can, and then move on to something else. And right now, I've only played one game (Immortals: Fenyx rising) in the last six or seventh months.
@Unlucky13 never heard anyone call 30 hours short before! 30 hours seems to be the length that most games aim for, so you’re probably missing out on playing some great games.
@Unlucky13@Bentleyma-@Voltan i always check the ‘essentials’ of a platinum prior to starting a game (minimum playthroughs, missable trophies, online requirements... and most importantly time to plat) it helps me ensure my backlog is scheduled in a way to keep things interesting.
I classify anything under 10 hours as a very quick plat, 10-30 a quick plat, 30-70 average plat, 70-100 lengthy plat and 100 hours+ very long plat. I find if I mix them up according to probable length and genre by the time a short or long plat comes around, I am looking forward to the change of pace.
@Voltan Yeah I just play games for fun. If I'm not enjoying something over a prolonged period, I stop playing. As I generally take a lot longer to finish games, I don't pay much attention to how long a game is supposed to take to finish. Sure, if I've just finished a lengthy game I usually go for a smaller indie game or something, but sometimes they can be quite lengthy too.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

@Bentleyma- Its true that I basically have no interest in most games that are released, including many that are popular. I'm only really ever interested in RPG types and some sports games. Since the middle of 2019, these are the games that I played for the first time. Not a long list, obviously.
Ni No Kuni 2
Immortals: Fenyx Rising
Persona 5
Ghost of Tsushima
Jedi: Fallen Order
Greedfall
@JohnnyShoulder I’m fairness I normally take a bit longer that the duration suggested in time to plats (maybe 10% - 20%) as I like to have a period of acclimation... it’s just an estimate to help me put together an over-arching plan to whittle down an out-of-control backlog... while maintaining freshness... all the while fitting this little hobby of mine in and around a full time job, a house, a demanding missus and an even more demanding step-daughter. If I didn’t plan, I’d probably ‘still’ be doing laps of Skyrim! 😉
@Bentleyma- I played that one when it first came out too and enjoyed it. Missed it on my list. If it ends up being another year or more before I can get a PS5, I'll probably end up playing it again.
I played for 2.5 hours last night. It’s far too early to form a real opinion but my initial impression is fairly positive. Storytelling is the textbook definition of clunky but outside of that I’m really enjoying it. I’ve delved into gear, upgrades, customization and crafting, all of which I find extremely intuitive and snappy. The little bit of exploration I’ve done has been rewarding and beautiful, but the game has yet to really surrender the reigns to me. The game is beyond charming and the writing is all very uplifting and lightly introspective. Im excited to carry on.
