For anyone who wants just a slice of PS4 footage without any critical/angry commentary about performance, here's another example of how the game runs:
@nessisonett How much you want to bet the "good guy CDPR" reputation will survive without a scratch, despite this being one of the most "anti-consumer" (hate that term) and dishonest strategies I've seen a company employ to date? Literally lying to the public so that preorder numbers don't tumble.
Maybe they've included another one of those "tank u so much fer playin our gaem" messages in the physical version. That'll make it all better.
@Ralizah Poor games like Arkham Knight are crying in the corner right now as they weren’t given this amount of leeway. Like I’ve said before, I’d rather the game be good so that I can play a good game but it’s the massive double standards that do my head in. This comes only a couple of weeks after Push Square itself mauled the PS4 versions of Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed for having unacceptable levels of bugs. There’s no chance in hell points will be docked though, sites are too scared to not give it a positive review given the abuse some reviewers have been receiving.
I'm playing this on Xbox One X, so effectively the best chance it had on current gen systems but it reminds me of a Switch game its so blurry at times. Other times it looks good but the resolution drops hard in some scenarios and I feel they probably should have shifted focus exclusively to next gen during development.
So far I've only had a minor bug during the training mission where it would simulate stick drift when finishing a task and framerate wise its perfectly playable. That said I may just wait for the true next gen version as there's a lot to come from this visually.
There's no way any of the console versions of this should be getting anything like a 9 in its current state though
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.
this is the time that players and media have to IN A CIVIL AND RESPECTFUlL manner let CDPR know that this is not how you release a game. from the shady policy on review footage and no console reviews to lack of transparancy (which has been praised over and over again by the fans and media).
because if the fans and media let it slip by without to much of a notice than this will set a dangerous example for CDPR in the furture. since they will realise that they can get away with anything. heck you could argue that they even profited from the people's goodwill already in regards to cyperpunk a little to much.
@BearsEatBeets Oh dear. Oh deary dear. Considering people hold up DF like the second coming, I wonder if this will reach even the staunchest of deniers. A framerate of 15FPS at times is frankly laughable.
@jdv95 I totally agree! And this is ehat I wrote few weeks ago commenting an article about "PS5 convinced me to go digital"...
"I hope in the future Day One edition of games will be only digital, while the physical copy should arrive 2/3 weeks later with all the patches included on disc.
In this way the rich ones may be the first to play their half baked games, while the poor ones can wait and play them without worrying about their crappy internet connection. 😬"
I wasn't referring to CP 2077, but still... Let them preorder and work as testers; we will happily buy the definitive edition for less.
Well I just had a go at the same driving section on Xbox One X and its basically the same result. I'll be leaving this game now until the next gen version comes out. It really shouldn't have been released on current gen consoles like this
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.
game crashed already 2 time in 5 hours. 10/10 "Would release the game in that state again"
Also for some reason my controller is drifting (the right stick) but only in this game, already tried to fix it with adjusting the inner/outer circle dead zone but that doesn't help. interesstingly the first 4h were fine but suddenly the camera started drifting in the menues and in that BD analyzing minigame
I may have spent a long time on the character creation screen, before having a quick play of the actual game. My initial reactions are very positive. It's got all of the aesthetics that I love about the cyberpunk genre, i.e. the futuristic city, funky lights, robotic implants, cool vehicles and stuff. It was fun to look around and take in the scenery. I picked the Corpo background, so the game for me started with trouble brewing in a large distopian corporation.
I only had a brief session, so can't really comment on the other aspects, such as performance, combat, or the open world in general. The loading times were a bit slow on my PS4, and a couple of people only appeared when very close by, but no game breaking issues yet.
So far it seems to be everything I wanted from a cyberpunk game, other than possibly potential performance issues.
Voice acting and dialogue is top notch and well written. Yes there is a lot of swearing and stuff but it suits the setting. It all flows quite naturally which some games can find tricky.
Player agency is well implemented, there is so much choice on how you can tackle each mission. Like I set my character to be a bit of a brute, but ended up doing the first mission by hacking into everything and killing everyone by stealth. This won't work all the time however, as in the training missions it was warned that won't work against certain higher ranked enemies, and you will have to find other ways to reduce their health.
Graphically it looks great when your are inside, but step outside and thinks can look bank average with some flat looking textures in places. Maybe I've been spoiled with the gorgeous Demon's Souls, but I've also played Days Gone (albeit with the ps5 boost patch downloaded) that that looked so much crisper.
Not many bugs that I've noticed. The scenery was flickering in the distance at the start of my Nomad playthrough and hair was clipping through clothes on one occasion. Maybe I'm just lucky but I am playing on PS5.
The HDR in this is...questionable to say the least. I've mucked around with both the game and my TV settings and it does look better. Apparently this is an issue across all platforms however.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@nessisonett I feel like people are hearing alt-right dog whistles coming from under their bed at night these days. Sometimes it's best just to take things at face value.
