@Elodin: Plenty of people will have played the older games and still not understand the story basically the story is told in a bread-crumb way working with item descriptions, characters few lines of dialogue and some cutscenes along with environmental cues, it's kinda expected that if you wana figure out the story you have to go looking online from lore gatherers. I highly recommend you do, the lore in these games is great! Also definitely give the game a shout, always remember you can summon help from other players not just before a boss but even in an area you might be struggling to get through. And about the difficulty, the games hard but but very attainable, the difficulty is very exaggerated. Patience is the key and approaching bosses like a puzzle that need to be solved rather than brute forced, don't rush into any enemy, be cautious and you'll be grand also wiki's and guides are your friend but I'd wait till your really stuck to use them, these games foster a great sense of discovery which would be a shame to miss out on
Since a large part of souls is community I feel like the wiki is almost part of the game. The idea of helping each other us literally built right into the game after all. That said I avoid walkthrough and use the wiki just for weapon stats and imbues and stuff.
@Hego: Thanks for the reply.
I had to go through the game main menu to solve this and, even if I don't have PS+, it switched to 1.04 after looking for connections.
Very minor spoilers, but when y'all get to the fire demon beneath the catacombs... he's too fat to fit through the doorway you come in through and too stupid to not stand there and get plunked by arrows. Tres drole.
@Mega-Gazz: haha, thats amazing since the game is cheap sometimes, being cheap on the game itself is so much fun too from time to time takes away quite some of the tension and the epic overal fight though ...
So was doing a bit of PvP at Cathedral this evening, was laying down the invader summons and twice I got summoned by peeps who didn't realise I was an invader, clearly it was their first souls game!
I keep getting summoned as a blue phantom (in catacombs) and it fails to summon. Perhaps people die before I connect. When I do get summoned to their world, it ends before I find them and I get no token
I beat the Abyss Watchers yesterday, they were giving me some grief and I was thinking about summoning in some help but glad I pushed through and managed it solo. How much of the game is left, approximately? Any ideas?
@Mega-Gazz: Hmm, I'm about level 40-43. I've been on it 35 hours but I've been messing about quite a lot. I kind of feel I'm probably a bit higher level than I need to be (not sure what I'm basing this on, but just due to the amount of messing about I've done I suppose, it's gained me quite a few extra souls) but I've spread my stats pretty thin so don't feel like I'm overpowered..
I beat Abyss Watchers on my second try and Deacons on my first (had a summon with the Deacons though who helped get that far and didn't want to banish him after all his work). Honestly so far I've found all the bosses pretty easy, although going by the chat here I'm guessing I must be pretty over leveled, I'm lvl 45 after beating the Deacons, heading off to the Catacombs now
