@kyleforrester87 I was already there. Figured I could save myself a trip! I'm excited, but I've got Yakuza 6 to keep me occupied till then.
God of War is #1 in Best Sellers chart for AmazonUS for 2018. It's even ahead of the PSN Top up cards and the game isn't even out yet.
I think I predicted that the game would sell 6million+ in one of the other threads. Pretty sure GOW is going to cruise past that, maybe into the 10million+ territory. Mental how big time GOW has become all of a sudden.

@Fight_Teza_Fight According to an insider on ResetEra, the game ''has destroyed whatever Gamestop was projecting. Reserves are 200%+ to its reserve goal.'' It seems like it's doing a lot better than what retailers were expecting.
@Octane If that's true across the world, then the changes that have been made to the franchise must have appealed to a much larger audience than the pretty mindless button bashing, combo building hack and slash of the previous games.
@KratosMD If they had wanted to make another GoW game like the last ones, I think Sony would not of geenlit it - at least maybe not with a decent budget and timescale. It was stale and tired. They may well of been persuaded by the story, the concept and the changes that basically re-boot the game-play.

Glad to see this sell so well. I’m not buying it straight away, but probably later. I do like to see the reimagining and reinventing of the series be rewarded with good sales, a sign that it can be successful to take a bit of a chance every now and then on different ideas, rather than play it safe (a la all the reskin jobs like FIFA, Far Cry, etc, etc)
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@KALofKRYPTON Yeah, I’m being an irresponsible internet over-reactor when I say FIFA and Far Cry are just reskinning their games since I haven’t actually played those series. 😅 But a lot of what I’m reading is FC5 is just wash, rinse, repeat from the earlier entries. That could be totally wrong though.
God of War clearly was recycling gameplay with their previous entries, culminating in Ascension. They were still good games but not individually defining, as far as gameplay. With GoW, I think it didn’t grow as stale because the games are shorter, so they didn’t drag too much, even if there wasn’t new gameplay.
@Th3solution I think the actual game play for FC5 looks and is fine - but for something that touted itself for the controversial storyline - it's shockingly poor. I think it was a Polygon article that detailed it (obviously, avoid if you don't want spoilers).

@JohnnyShoulder Definitely. Hopefully Bethesda takes note. It shows confidence in your product & builds hype.
Also it gives Sony an initial indicator on the level of interest the game has so even when it has stock issues- as is the case here, they can address it by launch.
@Octane That’s incredible. God of War has always performed really well in the US in the past, so that’s even more impressive.
I’m sure we won’t have to wait too long before Sony start touting the numbers.
Uncharted 4 did 2.7million in its first week. I think God of War beats that.
@KratosMD I’m sure Sony are ecstatic. Their faith paid off big time it seems. Success stories like God of War & Horizon probably reinforces Sony’s ‘hands off’ approach to game development & we’re sure to benefit from it long term.
Cory Barlog was interviewed by Skill Up & he mentioned that he would like to work on a new IP after GOW if Sony let him.
Hope they give him that chance. Seems to have earned it.

@KratosMD I made this point before, but I really like the thought of Kratos being to PlayStation what Mario & Zelda are to Nintendo.
Whenever things get stale throw him into a new mythology and change up/amend the formula.
Ideally the next game from SSM would be a new IP following GOWs critical success.

@KratosMD I know I wouldn't have bothered with it if they had kept it the same as previous games with the shift to Norse mythology as the only real change.

I'm still on the fence.haha. I do like the fact that it's a reimagined Kratos. The single camera shot is probably the one thing I'm most impressed about in this game. Other than that I don't think SSM have done anything groundbreaking since they've borrowed a lot gameplay elements from other games. I can't help but think of Joel and Ellie whenever I see Kratos and Atrues together.

Same here!
I've said this before but not a great fan of pre-ordering but i like to support single player only games with no micro transactions/loot boxes/season pass.
