I do have a question for my European folks on the thread regarding William. I've seen a lot of reviews when giving the basic plot of the story, they refer to William as an Englishman. Now I'm American so I could be mistakening the dialect, but I swear his accent is Irish. And which would make sense as the real William Addams was of Irish decent. I was just curious on this. This game is incredible btw for those who haven't played it, I literally cannot put it down.

About 7 hours in & I'm really enjoying it. The more I play it the less Soulsborney it feels. It's very arcade-like.
Could've done without the 'living weapon'. Feels way too OP.
@johncalmc Would appreciate it if you could clear something up for me. How do I store items? I don't really wanna use the DLC stuff.
Also what's the difference between defence multiplier (isn't it just damage reduction?) and toughness?

@Fight_Teza_Fight There's a store room you can access that holds on to your items if you go over your carrying limit but I'm not sure if it can hold anything like weapons or armour or whatever because I never tried it. It just held Elixers for me, mainly.
Defence multiplier is confusing - and I'm doing this from memory without having the game in front of me, so I might be a little off - but it's basically the value of how much damage you'll take. As you progress through the game you'll see many different things contributing to the defence multiplier. Each armour item has a basic defence number that contributes to the total. Then there'll be little bonuses too, like you might have a piece of armour that says something like "Convert Spirit to Defence (C+)". What that means is that in addition to the basic defence the item has, it'll take your Spirit level and then add a portion of that number to the defence, too. If it said 'A' instead of 'C+' then the portion it added would be higher.
Short version, defence multiplier is the total accumulation of your basic defence level, the defence boosts of your various pieces of armour, and all of the bonus perks those pieces of armour have.
Toughness is entirely different in that it reflects how much your Ki is affected by damage while you're blocking. That's why the heavy armours all give you bigger Toughness ratings. If you have high toughness, you can block for a while without your block failing, and you running out of Ki and becoming stunned. If you have a low toughness you'll only be able to block a few hits before being in trouble.

Agreed with this, though the concept is quite Japanese
I'm also mixed on the Japanese voiceover. Reading subtitles is okay and helps immersion since they are speaking two languages, but I would definitely prefer if it was all voiced in English.
@johncalmc oh wow I had it all wrong lol at least I had the accent right though. Thanks!
One thing I did want to note is that I think a bloodborne style lantern, torch, or even onmyo spell to cast some light would be perfect. I tend to play with the brightness as low as possible to keep it immersive, and for the most part I have no trouble but some of the more murky dungeons I'm blind as a bat

@johncalmc Thanks for the reply. Sucks with the storage, cause the items are just there in my inventory.
The defence multiplier sounds unnecessarily complicated. Defence reduction, defence +...I'll have to mess about with it & try to get my head around it.
@Mega-Gazz Yh I felt that was a little wierd too haha.

@Fight_Teza_Fight it's not that bad once you see what's going on. At first it seems like you get bombarded with stats though and I was pretty confused. Attack modifier works in the same way.
@johncalmc@Fight_Teza_Fight you can in fact move armour and weapons to storage at the starting point. Use r3 iirc to swap to inventory then select stuff with ?triangle? Or something. My dlc items are in the storage cuz they're op and the game was too easy
@Mega-Gazz@johncalmc Thanks that's good to know. I'll have to check once I get out of the mission.
Currently stuck on hino-enma. She sure is quick haha.

@Fight_Teza_Fight You can level up your magic to level 10 and use the sloth spell on her. I saw the comparisons on Kotaku and it did make enemies move slower. Not sure whether you can do that at your current chapter, though since I don't have the game.
@WanderingBullet Thanks man, but killed her. High Stance Spear FTW. Slap her down before she touches you

Is anyone NOT using Isonade? I'm addicted to the free radar/"sense enemies", 100 health and regenerating 100 health after each kill. All the others so far seem to pale in comparison...
@Mega-Gazz I have mostly used the fire dog that I've forgotten the name of. It has a bonus to skill-based damage which is ace if you're using two swords. Occasionally I switch based on the boss I'm fighting, but fire dog has been my mainstay. Powering up your damage output and making the most of any bonuses makes the later stages of the game a lot more manageable.
@johncalmc That's Kato IIRC? I did look at him, he's got a nice damage upgrade with the ki and ki regen also.... But I'm really hooked on the 100 health after each kill, and the radar . Isonade does have 9% flat damage increase against humans, but humans are the easy ones, most of the time.
I'm only just on the second province, so who knows, maybe it'll change.
@Mega-Gazz Yeah that's the one. That probably sounds better than fire dog. I mainly picked him for the help against bosses. His stat boosts and fast ki recovery meant that bosses were a lot more manageable. I'm excited for some of you guys to finish the game. It gets pretty bonkers at the end, and then the end game content is fairly hardcore too.
