Long story short, default control scheme is awful. I have no idea why they'd ship with that set as default.

My advice to anyone would be to switch to the 'Colony' control scheme; the (only) one that binds pitch + yaw to the left stick and just roll + boost to the right.
Unfortunately this binds weapons to the left shoulders and thrust and brake to the right shoulders, that takes a bit of getting used to and would be better the other way around.

The option to fully customise the controls would be ideal. I tried the colony control scheme while reviewing it, but couldn't get to grips with the left shoulder buttons handling weapons.

The default scheme works -- but it takes some getting used to. Really, you just need to brainwash yourself to use the right stick to steer/aim at all times. Personally, once I had that down I didn't have many problems except when fumbling with the face buttons to change weapons, lock on to new targets, etc.

The face buttons and dpad are all fine for me. Works a lot like Battlestar Galactica.

I've played SSZ with a DS3 on my pc with a similar set up to the Colony control scheme The stick layout in default seems geared to a flight stick.

Custom bindings would be great, R2÷L2 for thrust, R1+L1 for weapons would make it great for me.
