@JohnnyShoulder maybe she puts a band together and it becomes a rhythm action game later on, where inbetween sets you have to take out annoying fans in the crowd.
Seriously though I'm 9 hours in and just got the bow, loving every second of it so far!
Currently I'm sitting in the music shop with the guitar, randomly rotating the analogue stick and hitting the touchpad, making a noise worse than a clicker doing a cover of a Sugababes song - and Ellie's face is all intense and passionate as if she's playing an expert cover of a Neil Young song. Love it.
It’s quite interesting how that article was mostly filled with users who’d made their accounts in the last day or two, spamming with comments talking about ‘leftist agendas’ and ‘Anita Sarkeesian propaganda’. It literally mirrors the user reviews on Metacritic in its own way.
@KratosMD Tough to say. The story is definitely more surprising in this one, I'd say. It's also way more complicated - both in terms of the number or things going on and in the way in which it's told. It's also darker and bleaker and more upsetting - not in terms of like SAD THINGS HAPPEN but more like playing it made me feel bad and just feel sorry for everyone involved.
Gameplay is better, more elaborate.
Will you like it overall? It's different, but I'm not sure that anybody who disliked the first game is going to be won over here.
Edit: oh and personally - I'm just about to play The Last of Us again so this might change - I'd say the second one is better.
@KratosMD Okay so I actually feel the same way about the original. The story on paper is whatever. What elevates it is the acting and the writing, the way the characters develop. I think the sequel is different in that it has all that good stuff but the story is more unusual. It's hard to talk about obviously, but I think it takes some surprising turns and for a sequel to what is a beloved game, is incredibly brave. Hence why there's a lot of drama online about it 😂
@Octane I think if you’re too close they will feel you regardless. I can’t remember if in the first game they were like that, but I want to say they were if they were facing you. It’s been four years, maybe they evolved.
@KratosMD I recently played the first one for the first time. While I liked it, it felt really quite flawed, a lot more than its reputation would make you think. So far, in terms of gameplay, so many things that bothered me about the original has been fixed and improved. Though in terms of relating, Ellie's only 4 years older and is still a teenager so it's not all that different. Her personality in the original wouldn't have been that unusual for an 18 year old, either, even though she was 14. On a weird way, she kund of seems less mature now since she's a lot more angsty and typically teenagery. Don't let that put you off, though, it's pretty much impossible to not relate to her after certain events.
@Octane I actually have found the opposite. In the original I had a clicker walk over to me even though I was stationary. It then walked into me - I was assuming it would just wander past since I wasn't moving - but it triggered the insta-kill cutscene. I wasn't in its patrol path, it just kind of magnetized to me. In the sequel stealth and how it works is so much more clearly communicated. No more enemies hearing you do a silent kill from a different floor.
Anyone else finding they are not using any of explosive tools (moltov's, stun bombs, trap mine)? I've just reached the tv station and not used any of em.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Matroska@carlos82 Maybe I'm just more reckless in this game, but I don't remember aggravating so many clickers all the time. I feel like they've become a lot smarter..!
@JohnnyShoulder I use 'em all the time. I don't think I've used the stun bomb yet, but my that's my smoke bomb of this game I think. I never used the smoke bombs in my original playthrough of TLOU, but when I replayed the game recently I discovered that they were incredibly useful. So maybe I should give the stun bombs a try. I keep forgetting about them.
Molotovs are my go-to weapon for clickers, especially the bloaters.
And I usually play one or two trap mines, just purely for self defence. They're great. I reached the part where the dogs show up for the first time (it was in the State of Play as well IIRC), and I used a sinple trap to blow up the two baddies and the dog. They didn't stand a chance lol.
@jdv95 Cheers! I think you could miss it in the original, but I'm not sure about that. It always feels like I'm manually picking up new weapons instead of the game giving them to me.
@Octane yeah the game does not realy "give" you the new weapons but the bow is actually on the path you need to go for the main story. the only way you can miss it is by not picking it up. (you'll know it when you see it)
