@Unashamed_116: @Splat: I always buy my games physical when I can, so I doubt I'll run out of space that soon.
Won't matter on PS4. You have to install the whole game even if you buy physical. For example Dragon Age takes 45 GB's of space regardless if it's digital or physical.

Whilst its true that the Physical copies take up similar sized storage, I find it easier to delete and re-install games I have in physical format than to delete and re-download 40-50GB games. I also find it easier to keep track of which games I have by seeing the games on my shelf too. I don't want this to turn into a discussion about the pro's and con's of Physical and digital games though and I know that each person may have their own preference.
Regardless of your choice of console - 500GB or 1TB - I doubt either will be sufficient over the expected lifetime of the console for the majority of gamers. However the HDD can be replaced relatively easily. personally I would prefer external HDD support myself - maybe that will come with a future update...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Yeah external hdd would be great..I have that on my Xbox..2tb in fact.
I upgraded my ps4hdd to 2tb also..
External storage will hopefully arrive at some point.
I really like having games digitally as I can play them remotely on my z3 whereas I cannot physically remove and change discs if I'm not there...but the downside is I cannot sell games I no longer play on.
But all that said I love my ps4 over all the other consoles and PCs I have..
@Octane: Yeah what @Splat said is true even if you buy physical copy you still have to install. GTA V, Sleeping Dogs and FIFA 14 are all physical and they take up alot of room for me. Plus I was thinking the same way as you before I got my PS4 and now I find that most of the games I own are digital due to their crazy sales. Also if you plan on getting PSN+ there are the free games to take into account.

That sounds so discouraging to me, to have to delete and re-install or re-download over and over again. Maybe someday one could put a 5TB or 10TB hard drive in the PS4 and that might be a big enough space to ward off constantly playing musical chairs with one's games. How long does it take to install a 50GB chunk of data off a Blu-ray disk onto the PS4 HDD anyway?

Not very long. That's not the problem. The problem is having to redownload the patches... I knew after a week of owning my PS4 that 500 GB's wasn't going to be enough. I upgraded to a 2 TB HD myself.
@Splat: It's true. As @BAMozzy: says, the install time isn't really an issue - they are super quick, actually - but then factoring in having to redownload the patches each time can be a pain, especially with PSN speeds as they are.
Of course patches aren't always necessary to enjoy games, take Wolfenstein for example, I'd be pretty happy playing that straight off the shelf. But then something like Bloodborne, which was patched to speed up load times, or Witcher 3 that had tons of patches make for some pretty important updates and it's a pig having to redownload them each time.
It's a shame you can't uninstall the game while retaining the updates along with your save data, such is life.
That's kinda backwards. I guess it's for reducing loading times? Good thing I learned that now, I will definitely get the 1TB model then.
@Tasuki I know PS+ comes with free games, but I doubt I'll be able to play all of them. I think I'll try it out for a while, but both my time and money are limited. So I don't think I'll be able to enjoy every game that comes with PS+, especially since there are also games to buy and play on my other consoles.
The problem is having to redownload the patches...
Wow, that is even more discouraging. Wasn't thinking about patches too. Got to love them game patches.
I was just taking sometime to look up the read speed of the PS4's Blu-ray dive (BD). The read speed of the BD is to slow to build a game on screen and that is one of the reasons for the installs, so if the read speed of a BD was fast enough than there would be no need to install to the hard drive. PS4 BD read speed is rated at 6x, for maximum read speed of 27 MBs per second. BTW
@Octane: Personally I didn't buy PS+ for the free games. It is required though for any online game (apart from some of the F2P games). If you enjoy playing MP, co-op or even games like Destiny, the Division etc, it is essential. I must admit that I wouldn't be without PS+ as I enjoy playing a lot of online based games - in fact my next 3 major PS4 purchases (Destiny, the Taken King, CoD: BO3 and Star Wars: Battlefront) won't be playable (or in the case of CoD - very limited) without PS+. Whether or not I get my money back in essence from the value of the 'free' games is immaterial - I can't say that so far they have been worth downloading in general from my perspective but others have enjoyed these. The point is though that I need PS+ to be able to play all my games to the fullest. For those that buy digital games, no doubt the savings offered could over the course of the year equate to more than the cost of PS+ without even considering the free games too.

I got the500 version and quickly updated it by myself to 2 TB. Now I have plenty of space for games. I use the external hdd for the media player, movies and music.
@Octane: I believe it does but its still needs PS+ for full access to everything the game has to offer. It doesn't have a 'campaign' though. From what I understand the 'offline' mode is the wave based content and lets be honest its likely to be a lot more fun and varied with PS+

@Octane: Honestly I won't put my hopes into an offline campaign mode for Battlefront. If there is one it will be something just slapped together and thrown in. Most of the work and meat of the game will be online. It's just how games especially shooters are this day and age.

I just read that the PS4 is getting a price cut in Japan. That's good news, I think a price cut is bound to happen in the west as well.
@BAMozzy: I never liked the idea of forced online play in games. Perhaps I'm too old fashioned.
How is it 'forced'? It's a game that has long been associated with MP and suited to online play. Its not forced upon you - you don't have to buy. If you don't own PS+ or have no interest in online gaming, its not exactly a game that's likely to offer value for money on release. There are games which don't require or have online components so why shouldn't there be ones that are totally online (like Destiny or the Division)? Games like the Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight are available and whilst Arkham Knight has online leaderboards neither really need online.
To me, not having online is almost like buying a Sky+HD box just for freeview.

Speaking as someone who is also considering buying a PS4, I think you should go for it if there's any games currently out that you want to play. There's plenty of games releasing next year, and you may as well get it for the games out right now so that you don't build a backlog of PS4 games. The only reason I'm still holding off is because I won't have enough gaming time to justify buying a PS4 anytime soon.
@BAMozzy: I never said there was anything wrong with it, just not my type of game. Never played any of the other Battlefront games, so I had no idea they were focussed heavily on multiplayer.
@Storytime7: Most games I'm really looking forward to are 2016 games, so I'm awaiting either a price drop or a good holiday price. That's the plan for now.
@Octane: The original Battlefront games from what I remember did have good single player campaigns but that was a different time. This new one though seems like they are concentrating more on multiplayer as most shooters do nowadays.
