Yousef-

It’s FINALLY OUT (where I am at least)
I’ve been so hyped for this.
I’m kinda in the minority of being an OG fan who loves the new cast so I’m not bothered. xD
I’m just happy we got a DR game at all!
This is gonna be so fun.

(This last part is to meet message length requirement, I’m not really sure what else to type here but I hope everyone enjoys this game!!)
Gonna go make tea.

@Yousef- will be my first Dead Rising - having watched some gameplay I’m not sure how I’ll feel about it but I’m intrigued enough to give it a go.

**** DLC!

Yousef-

@colonelkilgore it’s a super fun game. The photography mechanic is still addicting, photo opportunities are a great mechanic especially for PP (exp). I really like the new cast. Environments and models look great too. The small gameplay tweaks are welcome. The original game’s soul is still very much impact. Hope you enjoy it, Colonel!

One of my favourites back on the 360 days, but remember it being absolutely brutal. Heard they made a lot of concessions for this remaster to appeal to new players, which I know got some people mad but its music to my ears, can't wait to check this one out.

Life to the living, death to the dead.

Yousef-

@Pizzamorg there’s actually a bit of discrepancy in what’s being spread around. The important major changes are primarily QoL ones and in no way harm the artistic integrity of this masterpiece. Some people overreacted. The soul of this game is still in fact, and so are most major gameplay features. It’s still the same game I know and love! Have fun when you get to it!

I remember playing the demo on the 360 religiously and enjoying it but never actually played the full game. I’ll probably pick this up; it looks really fun. Capcom is just delivering banger after banger right now.

I absolutely adored the first game it was an absolute one of a kind superb experience. Will certainly pick this up somewhere down the line but worried it won't live up to the nosta!his fuelled hype or maybe I'll have changed too much in the intervening decades to appreciate and obsess over it as much as before.

@colonelkilgore
Oh you're in for a treat. Hope you enjoy. Though with your backlog they may be closer to doing the next remaster when you get around to it.

@sorteddan 🤣 you might be right there mate. It’s a weird one for me as I can normally tell if I’ll like something from gameplay footage… and I’m just not feeling this from what I’ve seen. But everyone is just so overwhelmingly positive about the game (the original mostly but also the remasters) that my conclusion currently is that I’m probably missing something. Which only serves to intensify my curiosity… so who knows, that might actually bump it up the schedule a fair bit 🤔

**** DLC!

Yousef-

@colonelkilgore to at least attempt to give some sort of idea of why it’s so appealing, there’s a sense “raw-ness” to it that doesn’t have any real parallel.
It’s PROBABLY also worth pointing it definitely belongs in the group of “footage doesn’t convey the appeal” kinda games. As well as games where you do need to play at least past the opening chapters until you encounter its “X-factor”.

I might grab it at some point. I've had Dead Rising 4 sat in my backlog for the last few years, so I'm not sure if I should if buy the remaster or play that.

@Bentleyma
I played 4 a few years back. You should play the remaster. Nuff said.

Tried it for like an hour on my lunch - mixed impressions. At times it looks more like a remake than a remaster, at others its obvious just how old it is.

Controls have been improved, but its still quite jank. Love being locked into an animation as Frank swings wildly, somehow misses at point blank range and then gets dogpiled. All of the non weapon based moves are also still quite clunky, when they will or won't work seems to be a mystery to me.

It still has enough loading screens to make Starfield blush, they aren't very long, but still kinda annoying as they cut off radio comms and stuff, and its pretty easy to end up going through two or three doors in one radio conversation with it constantly restarting.

Charm still remains in the story, weird tone of everything and just the joy of wandering around the mall using random crap on zombies. Before the days when you were like gluing weapons together or using exo suits.

Feels like difficulty has been retuned. You still lose health quickly if you arent paying attention. But I remember that first shootout with Carlito in the original feeling like this huge difficulty spike straight away. That seems to be smoothed out. Although I was like 14 when I played this originally so maybe some of it is just twenty years of extra gaming experience I dunno.

Life to the living, death to the dead.

@Yousef- ain’t gonna lie, your enthusiasm is really getting me up for this. Might have to take the eraser to the schedule and free up some space in the next 12 months. Real glad you’re enjoying!
