@Col_McCafferty well I appreciate the confidence you have in me… but I’ll be trying to get that HFW plat before the Elden Ring case even gets opened. I loved the original, it’s actually the game which made me realise quite how good the Sony first parties actually were.
@velio84 My wife played through Zero Dawn late last year so I got to experience it with the PS5 patch. The 60fps is very nice and it still looks like an amazing game, just as good as I remember when I first played on PS4. I did a few of the hunting trials for her and it was great to get back into using stuff like the trip caster and tearblast arrows. I'm really looking forward to the arena challenges and taking on some of the new machines.
they have been teasing it via the new york mural aswell.
infact the game awards trailer might have teased it aswell.
the only question is if it will also be on ps4 because the hardware of the ps4 was the reason flying is not in zero dawn. can't imagine it being a ps5 exclusive feature either. maybe flying will just last a couple of minutes and serve more as a fast travel means?
@colonelkilgore I think any time flying mounts have been proposed, the industry recoils and backtracks while visions of the Lair disaster dances in their heads.
It’s a bold move if they try to change the stigma behind flying mounts though.
…Come to think of it, there was that flying mount section in Rift Apart. Hardly the same as having it open world though. I’m sure there are tons of other examples of flying mounts in games that worked out but I just alway think of Lair. 😄
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
Ooops…. My previous post is pretty inaccurate — I just saw the article with the updated sales figures for HZD are north of 20 million. I completely underestimated then. It might be hard for HFW to get that high.
flying would be awesome just for the fun of it tbh.
but i'm thinking there will be some restrictions to it though.
either it will only last for a few minutes or it's a area specific thing etc.
i doubt you will be able to fly across the entire map considering the ps4 hardware zero dawn not being able to have it. maybe it will just be a longer lasting wing shield.
@Th3solution I’m no developer, so ignore my potential ignorance in the following. So while not mounts perse… would ‘it’ be that different from aeroplanes, helicopters and jet-packs in GTA et al?
@colonelkilgore yeah the devs where asked the question regarding flying mounts but never confirmed or denied it in a interview. they only said that they know it's a heavily requested feature.
@colonelkilgore@Th3solution That's a good point about GTA. I guess the thing with Horizon could be the level of detail of the environment compared to GTA. There's a lot going on in terms of foliage and other environmental things as well as the robots etc all taking away extra processing power / bandwidth that would otherwise be used for loading in new sections of the world as you fly along. I could be totally wrong though, but just a thought.
@render yeah there is obviously some issue, otherwise I’m sure they would’ve been included in the previous game… and you might well be correct in your reasoning. 🤔 just feels like it shouldn’t be an issue to someone who spent far too many hours trying to get the Dodo off the ground in GTA3 over 20 years ago.
