This RE4 demo makes my PRO sound like a jet taking off. The noise started while in settings and is intermittent through the demo, sometimes not too loud and sometimes jet engine again. RE2 and RE3 demos and games played quiet.
I only played once, death by chainsaw, because I was fearful of damaging my PRO. Maybe it needs a disassembled deep cleaning.
The demo, however noisy, looks and plays smooth in performance mode through my old 1080p tv. The amount of settings options is very welcome.

Well I've not yet gotten around to starting it yet but if it's like any of the other RE games I've played it actually gets better (in my opinion) when you can start your second run with upgraded weapons and unlimited ammo... So it may not quite be over when it's over.

I just found out that Resident Evil 4 has been released on iPhone, so I might have to give that a try on my 15 Pro Max.
@Jimmer-jammer How can you have a remake marathon without playing the remake of the first game?! I still consider it to be the best game in the series.
@Bentleyma Ha! I really do need to get around that. At one point I was looking at it and remember being somewhat confused by which version to buy and just never went back to figure it out.

I’m curious if I’ll like RE4 Remake if I didn’t care for the original. (Well, actually the PS4 remaster). I was surprised that I couldn’t stick with it and jumped off about 5 hours in. The controls were too frustrating and the gameplay didn’t quite click. I really loved RE1-RE3 remakes.
Is there anyone else who didn’t care for the original RE4 but played RE4 Remake anyways? How did it go for you?
@Th3solution I think there’s a good chance you’ll like it. If one of your issues were the controls then obviously they’ve been updated to be more inline with the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, which improves the gameplay. Being able to move and shoot also improves things.
Chances are slim, but if you happen to have an iPhone 15 then you can try the game for free.
@Bentleyma@JohnnyShoulder Can’t take advantage of the iPhone option, but I might look for that PS5 demo.
I think if the movement is more fluid, I can move and shoot at that same time, and switch weapons on the fly without going into a menus, then that’s a good start. Also, having difficulty options would have made a huge difference for me on the first game, as that could have negated some of my struggles. So, having all of the above might work out for me.
I’ll give it a whirl when time opens up. I’m not looking anytime soon, but it being on sale had me thinking about it. Thanks, compadres.

It’s interesting to look back at some of my earlier posts about this game where I was concerned about whether I’d enjoy the Remake.
Because I started it today and I really love it so far.
I have been meaning to play it for a while now; I picked it up in a steep sale about a year ago, but hadn’t found the time/mood to start it. Even today, I was deliberating whether to play it or something else. Each time I have considered starting it, I felt a little dread because of my trouble with the original.
I’m happy to report that, although I’m merely in Chapter 2, most of my complaints about the original game seem much better in the Remake. The controls are more intuitive, the difficulty for me is much less, and the menu navigation and weapon select is revised and modern.
The game looks stunning graphically too. I’m playing in fidelity mode and it still feels smooth from a frame rate standpoint. Perhaps VRR is helping. My only complaint so far with the visuals is the hair. I need to try the special “hair strands” graphical setting. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin performance.
I will admit that I’m playing on “assisted” or easy mode. The difficulty of the original was one of my hangups. The hoards could get really overwhelming. But so far I’ve only died once this time.
Overall I’m optimistic that I will make it through the game this time.

@Th3solution Glad to hear it’s hitting the right spot this time! Such a great game. It strikes a brilliant tone between action, exploration, horror and camp, with outstanding scenario and level design. Hope it continues to win you over.

@Jimmer-jammer That’s a good way of putting it. All the RE games I’ve played (1-3) have had a similar nice balance. RE4 clearly emphasizes more action. But yes, I do think it’s a much better balance than I gave it credit for. In the first attempt to play the OG game I felt like it was too action-heavy. Now, as I’m playing I’m surprised at how often I’m given time alone to casually explore or solve a puzzle. I don’t remember there being this much quiet time; I felt like it was just constant hoards one after another, from one chaotic encounter to another. But so far the Remake doesn’t feel that way.
I know it’s basically the same set up because all the areas so far feel extremely familiar, but it is so much more enjoyable. Perhaps having the right expectations is all I needed. I know I’m more comfortable with the playstyle. On my first attempt, I was hours into the game before I realized how important it was to shoot the enemies in the knee and then finish them with a roundhouse kick to the head. 😅 I was just blasting away at their body and heads and having to constantly dodge and heal. The game is much easier (and therefore more fun) when you play the way they intend you to.
But yeah, the moving and shooting at the same time, and weapon wheel, and periodic autosaves also help tremendously. 😄
