At the moment the panic reminds me of the bird flu or swine flu hysteria.
I imagine my own chances of catching it are very low, but still not 100% after having meningitis and encephalitis so don't really fancy catching it either.

@Th3solution What's American slang for toilet roll?

No you shouldn't panic. Is it concerning of course but honestly there is a new epidemic/disease/sickness every single year it seems like.

@themcnoisy Nor me, the arse wipes at work are like really thin sand paper.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

I actually caught Swine Flu over the Christmas period when it was at it's worst. Was bedridden for nearly two weeks. These type of things tend to be serious for the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

And it's threads like this that made me leave this site.

Any how. Being paranoid about something out of your control. Congrats you have earned a Zoidberg

@KratosMD Well, if anything, low caloric intake is beneficial for your life span; along with exercise of course

@Tasuki I don't see the issue. It's the in General Discussion forum, so it can be about anything. You don't have to click on it!

Sup guys, I’m sick af rn, but I don’t think it’s a coronavirus even tho IT IS a virus (got infected in college). Even if it is Coronavirus I consider myself a very healthy and fit person ( 4 Gym days a week) but I’m still kinda scared lol. Wish me luck guys

Evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.

Anyway, if you don't like the subject of a thread, you could just... I 'unno... ignore it? It's what I do, and has worked pretty well up to this point.

@Tasuki Yes, screw the feelings of other people. Everyone should see things the exact same way I view them. I'm not personally panicked by the whole virus, but to discount the feelings of someone else is incredibly ignorant. Congrats, you have earned a Zoidberg.

@Tjuz Thanks for putting words in my mouth, real class act you are.

I never said screw others feelings or that I am not bothered by it, but these sort of posts have no reason to be on a game forum. If I wanted to discuss this sort of thing I would go to a health forum not a gaming forum. People go to gaming forums to discuss oh I don't know games, and to escape this kind of stuff. I mean I don't got to a medical forum and start discussing Hideo Kojima's latest game or how to speed run A Link to the Past.

But yeah thanks again for putting words in my mouth.

@Tasuki The whole point of the "general discussion" subforum is for... er... general discussion. It's for a wide variety of topics, including ones that aren't gaming related.

Again, if you don't like the topic, you can choose not to participate.

@Tasuki I mean, we're not actually all panicking, it's not turned political, it's just kinda a general discussion so to speak. The thread isn't looking to spiral out of control or have some really bad potential outcomes or anything. I don't see the big issue with this one.

Ironically I think the additional media coverage the virus is getting means there is less reason to be worried about it. 50 years ago (for example) the disease wouldn't get much coverage due to the lack of tabloid/sensationalist media, which means it would have been misdiagnosed by doctors in the western world; possibly written off as a cold or the flu. Given all the attention that Corona is getting, there is no way it can be misdiagnosed, because I'd imagine every GP in the land is on tenterhooks waiting for someone to walk into their clinic with it.

Short answer, no. There's no way we should be worried. I guess occasionally sensationalist media reactions can be a good thing. And I don't say that often.

These kind of viruses are very interesting though, I think. Around the world there are new viruses appearing all the time, as well as old ones reappearing and then vanishing for years before resurfacing somewhere on the other side of the world. Medical experts have no idea where some of these viruses go to hide in the meantime. Nature is scary!

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

It doesn’t sound any worse than some of the other diseases that already out there. Inconvenience and unpleasant certainly but not apocalyptic.
