Leicester are Champions and deservedly so. However, what does this mean for the next FIFA ratings? Considering they beat out the usually highly rated title contenders, would you rate them higher than Manchester City (82) or Chelsea (83)? If this is just an unusual season, and you think Leicester should be lower than the usual top teams, would you rate them lower? And if so, doesn't that mean that those top teams drop a few points? And if that's the case, what does that say about the state of the league in comparison to the other top leagues in Europe? Am I over-thinking this? Does Batman like goats?
I believe that Fifa uses an algorithm based on ratings from matches over a 3 year period (or something like that). The numbers they give to players aren't necessarily plucked out of thin air, and they're instead based on real performance ratings. I suspect having had a good season that they will get a bump in ratings because they have performed well this year, but I don't think they will be rated higher than teams like Manchester City and Chelsea. After all, those two clubs have been consistently higher performers over a longer period of time. Also, you need to remember that teams like Manchester City and Chelsea also competed in European competitions (and have done well in the case of Manchester City), which will also be reflected in the ratings.
TLDR; I suspect Leicester City will get a bump in ratings, but will not be rated higher than Manchester City or Chelsea.
