Really solid Direct. Name and release date for BotW2. Octopath 2. New Fire Emblem. Some good looking remasters. PIKMIN 4. New Theatrhythm. They're also localizing Fatal Frame 4!!!
Looking forward to Fatal Frame, Tales of Symphonia, Return to Dreamland, & of course Zelda!
Kinda funny though, I was watching it on mute at work & I maybe took 2-3 calls throughout the entirety of the show, then the Zelda trailer started playing & I got 5 calls right on top of each other, lol.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Pretty good direct. Octopath 2 and the final stroll with Ryza and co. are the games I will surely buy. There is no way I am getting them on Switch, Ryza 2 had horrendous loading times. I will check this 3D Danganronpa too.
Farming games are the new norm? I thought they were very niche...
It was a dud for me. While a new Fire Emblem game is great, a new Octopath Traveler game is fine, and the expected end of the show happened, but way too much filler and too much of the same kind of games (farming and games like that). No Metroid Prime announcements killed it for me as that was the biggest deal to me being a new Nintendo gamer that has never gotten to experience the series before and obviously has FPS experience from Xbox and PlayStation gaming for many years. I probably would have been more excited about some of the other games mentioned by others if I was so disappointed by the lack of anything Metroid Prime.
@KilloWertz One of the reasons I bought a Switch 4 years ago was in the hope of either the fourth game or a remastered version of any or all of the previous Prime games. Yep, still no sign of either. But we did get logo all that time ago. 🙄

@JohnnyShoulder Yeah, that alone completely ruined it for me. I had forgotten about the Metroid Prime series until I got a Switch and looked up more Metroid games. Then I saw about Metroid Prime 4 being in development (or development hell) and rumors of them at worst remastering the first one again. It got me excited for them given that I'm more of a regular console gamer than a Nintendo one, but now we're left wondering if there will be anything beyond Metroid Prime 4 someday down the road.
I am sure diehard fans will have liked it better than me, but I am shocked to be sitting here now saying that Sony won the day. I honestly thought their's was better, with most of what was shown actually being surprises, instead of most of the Direct being things that were obvious (even if some of them technically were never announced) and a lot of stuff that's the same as bunches of other games on the Switch.
Metroid Prime Trilogy rumor disappointment syndrome strikes again!
It'd have been pretty much ideal for me if they'd said anything about Advance Wars. Definitely one of my favorite Directs to date, however.
I wonder if the rumors were true and Gust really is behind that new FE game? It looks really good. Animation quality is a definite step up from Three Houses. Although it definitely isn't as gritty as Three Houses was. It seems much more like the logical follow-up to Awakening and Fates.

@Ralizah Pretty much, but it doesn't help that it actually seemed pretty likely at this point, especially since there's a real chance it never comes at this point after not getting announced this far along in the Switch's life span.
Well, of course you'd say that... Mr. Nintendo Fanboy.
It does, but I have nothing much to compare it to.

I have mixed feelings on the Direct, and I suppose that an individual's given reception will come down to gaming tastes ultimately.
If you're a huge FE or Pikman fan (as an example) then it was probably a great show... but I felt there just wasn't much there for "me".
Zelda release date being confirmed is all good, but it seems hard to get too hyped by something which is still the best part of a year away from release.
I have Xeno 3 to kick off soon, which I am genuinely looking forward to, and I might play Monkey Island on the side with this (MI to release next week?).
Otherwise I can't see much that I'll be getting on Switch in the near future, which is a shame. Was really hoping for a surprise Starfox drop/unveil... but starting to accept this will never happen!
I not seen either stream yet, but just looking at the games for me there was more from the State of Play which interests me. Plus there was way too many farming sims at the ND.

Didn't watch it live. I skimmed through this morning before work. Yeah I don't have a switch still but I like to keep up to date.
Raincode was the only interesting thing from that direct for me personally. Hopefully that makes the jump to PS4?
Fire Emblem Engage was already leaked wasn't it? Protag looked kinda silly with that red & blue hair.
Hard to be excited for Octopath 2 personally when Octopath 1 STILL isn't on PS4. Does look nice though and glad it IS coming to PS4 at least.
All the farming games did my head in (Harvestella by SE looked the best imo).
Pikmin was just a title drop. Never played 'em so... Absolutely nothing for me.
Tears Of The Kingdom was... Also nothing really? Just the same sort've teaser as last time it was shown off from what I saw. No actual deep dive or anything.
And the dialogue the announcer spouted between segments was awful from the bits I heard. Good grief. State Of Play announcer lady has him beat hands down

I feel like those Nintendo rumours are always just that, rumours. Not leaks. More like predictions. And people just bet on the ''safe'' stuff, like remasters (Wind Waker and TP have been ''rumoured'' for how long?). I'm actually glad they leave some room for new stuff.
@Octane True, new stuff is great, but there are probably a decent amount of people like me that never got to play any of the Metroid Prime games. I know I'm not tracking down a Wii in order to play them, so the rumors of that were a big deal. The fact that it never got announced was deflating when it actually seemed likely this time around judging by some predictions and such.
It's a bit different when there's backwards compatibility involved, but obviously that's not the case with Nintendo, so these remasters are literally the only way to play some games on a Switch.

@KilloWertz TBF, that's an issue you are always going to have. There will always be people that haven't played X game from previous console.
Now I don't find it an issue when they release them online through whatever means. But way too often these ''remasters'' are sold as their next full price big title (also looking at you TLOU2). Either don't make a big deal out of it, focus more on the new stuff, or have some kind of service where you can buy legacy content.
By the way, a GameCube and a copy of Metroid Prime is cheaper than whatever it would be on Switch I bet.
@Octane I doubt it, or at least a respectable Gamecube and not one in crappy condition at this point. While I would love to play it, to the point where a non-announcement of it helped kill yesterday's Direct for me, I'm not going to search for a console that's looong gone just to play a game, nor should I really have to for a major 1st party game like that. It'd be different if there wasn't supposed to be a new one coming at some point, but it's just getting silly at this point that a re-release of them on Switch isn't on the horizon (at least not for sure).
I get why there's no backwards compatibility between the Wii and the Switch given the motion controls, but that fact should put more pressure on them to release more remasters such as this. Oh well I guess. It's not like I don't have plenty to play on my PS5 to fill the void of non-RPGs and such.
