How Do You Go Faster in Building Speed in Astro Bot?

Building Speed is a speedrun time trial level, in which your aim is to complete the stage as quickly as you can. With online leaderboards comparing your time to your friends and other players, you might be wondering how you can improve your time.

Fortunately, there are a couple of handy tips and tricks you can employ that should whittle down your time in Building Speed. You'll need to practice, but you should be able to achieve a very competitive time with these techniques.

Boost Little and Often

In Building Speed, Astro has access to the dog booster power-up. If you press and hold R2, Astro will fly horizontally forwards. This is crucial for getting through the level, but you should be using this boost as often as you can.

Practice tapping R2 to gain the speed boost from the start of the power-up. Holding down the boost will reduce its speed, but to begin with, it's faster than Astro's run, so you want to be using the first burst of speed from the power-up as often as you can.

Sometimes you will need to hold it down, like when crossing the gap through the car wash spinners.

Cut This Corner

Just after the car wash is a slide leading to a trampoline. Take the slide down, staying on its rightmost edge. Once you have the momentum from the slide, jump off to the right, hover slightly, then boost with R2 and you'll reach the platform across the gap.

This saves a decent amount of time once you've practiced it.

Beeline the Beams

The final hurdle before the goal is a pair of slowly spinning metal beams leading to a springboard. This is the trickiest part of the stage, and the quickest way across is to make a beeline for the springboard.

To do this, you'll need to make careful use of your boost power-up to skip across the beams. This is faster than running and jumping, but it can be less precise and may require some adjusting in mid-air.

This will take quite a bit of practice, but it does save a good amount of time.

Where Are All Building Speed Collectibles in Astro Bot?

In speedrun levels, you must reach the end goal before the red and blue birds do. If the birds reach the end of the stage, they will set off rockets with the Special Bots attached, meaning you can't collect them. Race the birds to the goal and beat them both to secure the Special Bots.

Bot #1: Helldiver 1

• This Bot is strapped to the red rocket at the end of the stage. Beat the red bird to unlock this Special Bot.

Bot #2: Ronin

• This Bot is strapped to the blue rocket at the end of the stage. Beat the blue bird to unlock this Special Bot.
