Far Cry 6 is the sixth mainline entry in Ubisoft's exotic open world FPS series, released on PlayStation 5 and PS4.
In this Far Cy 6 guide, we're going to share our beginner's tips and tricks to help you survive both the lush island of Yara and Anton Castillo's men. We're also going to reveal the locations of all collectibles, including Roosters, USB Songs, and Criptograma Chests.
This page will also include some Trophy guides, revealing all unique weapons and where to find them.
Please note this guide is a work in progress, so if we haven't gotten around to covering a puzzle or aspect you're having trouble with just yet, be sure to check back in the near future.
Far Cry 6 Guide: All Collectibles
Far Cry 6 has 207 collectibles to find. However, the vast majority of them aren't needed to unlock Trophies and therefore are completely optional if you are trying to get the Platinum Trophy. You can view any collectibles you've already found by pressing the touchpad and scrolling to the Collection tab. Our guides focus on collectibles that do unlock Trophies.
- Roosters are animals you'll find locked inside big wooden boxes throughout the regions of Yara. Once found and interacted with, they can be used in cockfighting matches. On the map, the icon is in the shape of a box.
- USB Songs take the shape of small USB sticks in the game world, and collecting them unlocks new songs for use in the cars you drive. They are represented on the map with an icon of a small white USB stick on top of a black background.
- Criptograma Charts come in sets of two, which when combined reveal the location of a Criptograma Chest and act as keys. Inside will be a piece of valuable gear. They are marked on the map as a small white chest icon.
Far Cry 6 is split up into four main regions, all containing different types of collectibles. Below you will find guides to all Far Cry 6 collectibles.
Far Cry 6 Guide: Unique Weapons
Far Cry 6 has a large assortment of unique weapons that are located throughout the island of Yara, all complete with their own look, attachments, and stats. While the game does provide hints to get you started, finding all of them won't be easy. Linked below is a guide sharing the locations of every unique weapon.
Far Cry 6 Guide: Tips and Tricks for Beginners
Far Cry 6 allows you to select from either an action mode or story mode at the beginning of the game, tweaking the difficulty to your liking. The game isn't particularly difficult no matter which one you pick, but we have some universal tips and tricks we suggest all players take on board. Read them carefully to make sure you're prepared.
Holster Your Weapon
You're probably used to always having your gun out when playing a Far Cry game, but this sixth mainline entry provides a tantalising reason to put it away. If you play things carefully, you can pass by guards without raising suspicion if you appear to be unarmed and have an easier time completing your objective. Also, some of Anton Castillo's men aren't particularly loyal. If you approach them with a bribe and your guns are out of sight, they'll trade information for cash.
Be Careful in Areas with a Higher Level Than You
Just like other Ubisoft open world games, the various regions of Far Cry 6 now have a level attached to them. This governs the level of difficulty of enemies in the area, but don't let that sway you from entering a particular location because you could be in for a tough time. Of course, we don't suggest casually strolling into an area twice your rank with a rocket launcher ready to shoot, but there is some leeway to this system. Play it cool and you can explore some of the tougher environments early on and grab some sweet loot.
That brings us to the end of our Far Cry 6 guide. We hope you found it useful, but if you have any tips and tricks of your own to share, feel free to post them in the comments below.

How about a review of the game first?
That's the shortest tips and tricks guide I've ever seen 🤣
'Be careful in areas with a higher level than you'
Thanks! I would never have thought of that!!! What a life saver!
@lolwhatno read the Far Cry 5 review and just change all the nouns 😁👍
@lolwhatno Tomorrow.
@lolwhatno id imagine its going to play it safe and be in keeping with whats come before.
The game seems fun but the digital foundry analysis had me worried about a lot of technical problems.
Game’s fair decent, it’s a solid 6.
I'm enjoying it so far but my God the enemy respawns are utterly ridiculous! You can take out a sniper, walk a few steps away and when you turn back the sniper is there again. I think i'll put the game on hold until a few patches iron this out.
This is the most fun I have had with a Fry Cry game since 3. I know people have complained that it's just more of the same but honesty that's what I wanted. I actually enjoy the Ubisoft open world checklist. I'm over 20 hours in and barely touched the story.
Great game 8/10 but performance is a bit choppy to say the least on ps5. Screen tearing all over the place and im playing at 1080p!
@ApostateMage that's only in certain area's which are required for missions and such, so go there without the mission they will spawn indefinitely, at least that's what i think, I noticed this last night when I played the instant respawn was only sometimes
@Uromastryx Yeah, I did notice that and was thinking the same.
The thing I love about this game is the spontaneous carnage that builds up. It reminds me of GTA the way that some bizarre stuff will happen totally unscripted.
@ApostateMage
Oh yeah I simply went to some docks there was some npc with info, all of sudden 6 or so enemy's raining down on us. Took em out special forces arrived helicopters coming get mortars smashed on me, warzone for about 25mins, crazy fun
@Loftimus screen tearing?! There's no excuse for that. Absolutely ruins the immersion for me. Yet another release then patch game. Joke. Still, glad you're enjoying it.
