All FC 25 Updates and Improvements Over FC 24
On this page, you'll find a comprehensive list of all the new features, modes, and enhancements EA Sports has made for FC 25 that you won't find in last year's version. We will provide an easy-to-read overview of every new addition alongside a bullet-pointed list so you can easily digest what's new in FC 25.
New FC 25 Mode: Rush
Completely new to FC 25 is a mode called Rush, which replaces Volta from previous years. Available across all the main modes like Career Mode and Ultimate Team, this is a 5v5 mode available both offline and in online multiplayer with your friends. It's designed to simulate the 5-a-side version of the sport you'd typically see played at indoor football centres. A match lasts a single 7-minute half, and if it ends in a draw, then there'll be extra time and a penalty shootout.
- New 5v5 mode available in both offline and online play that replaces Volta
- Available across all core modes: Career, Ultimate Team, Clubs, Manager Career, and Kick-Off
- A 5-a-side version of the sport with a smaller, more square-shaped pitch
- Matches consist of one half lasting 7 minutes
- If a match ends in a draw, it goes to extra time and then a penalty shootout
- There are no substitutions
- Free kicks are always indirect; you must pass to a teammate rather than shoot
- Red cards are replaced with blue cards, which require you to sit on the sidelines for 1 minute
- Blue cards are awarded for serious foul play or denying a goal-scoring opportunity
- Two yellow cards result in a blue card, but goalkeeprs are completely exempt
- If a team happens to have three players on a blue card all at once, they forfeit the match and lose
- Kick-off is done via a rush to the ball, with a ball launcher shooting the ball into the centre circle
- The offside rule applies where the two dotted lines on the field are marked
- You're offside if you're beyond a defending player when the ball is played and in the attacking third after the dotted line
- In Career Mode, it's your youth academy that'll utilise Rush
- In Ultimate Team, earn Rush Points to go towards completing objectives
- In Clubs, you can compete on a global leaderboard to earn seasonal rewards
- In Manager Career Mode, you'll be developing youth players in Rush
- In Kick-Off, you can play a standard match of Rush with any of the available teams
FC 25 Career Mode: All Updates, New Features, and Enhancements
For FC 25, EA Sports says it wants to add more "authenticity and player control" into Career Mode, from a managerial and player perspective. The big new feature is Live Start Points, which allows you to play out specific club storylines from the real world in-game. This may be when a team is on the verge of a historic victory or still in the running to win the Premier League and domestic honours. You'll be able to jump in and play the following matches for yourself.
Other updates to the Player Career Mode are the ability to play as Icons and an Origin Story option that allows you to fill out the backstory of a player.
For the main Manager Career Mode, you can now take control of a women's football team across any of the top five leagues. Press conferences and the player morale system have been refreshed, you'll be able to scout new wonder kids from more countries (more than 160), and new customisations options can let you better simulate the sport or go for a more arcade feel.
