Hogwarts Legacy: In the Shadow of the Study Walkthrough

In the Shadow of the Study is a Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy, and is a Relationship Quest for Sebastian Sallow. It is unlocked after completing In the Shadow of the Bloodline. In this Hogwarts Legacy guide, we're going to reveal our In the Shadow of the Study Walkthrough.

In the Shadow of the Study: Walkthrough

Next up with Sebastian is a trip to meet him outside the Slytherin common room, which is just off an exit on the Grand Staircase. When you've met up with him, join him in a walk to meet Ominis. Having spoken to him, you'll need to open Slytherin's door. If you look down both sides of the corridor, you'll notice altars you can light up. Stand next to Sebastian and quickly cast Confringo at all 3 in a quick sequence to open the door.

Go through the new entrance, then use Reparo on the stone painting. You'll start to hear Parseltongue, and Ominis can tell you more about it. He'll open the next door, allowing you access to a new area. You now must find a way through. To do this, note the symbols on the locked gate to the right of the hole, then crawl through and match the symbols on the gate with the altar to open it. You'll encounter another locked gate using the same sort of symbols, so repeat the process again on a different snake altar.

Once the gate is open, return and pass through to a corridor you'll become locked in. Speak to Sebastian, then Ominis, and then Sebastian once more. At this point, you can learn Crucio. The door will now open, allowing you to pick up a spellbook. Give it to Sebastian, then leave the room via a secret exit in the back to complete the Side Quest.
