Sony will continue to support WipEout 2048, according to a post on the game’s Facebook page. The announcement follows a mysterious Tweet this afternoon that claimed the brand was still alive.
“While we wait for news on the future of WipEout, online play will continue to be supported and there will be plenty of WipEout community events, giveaways and goodies to look forward to,” wrote the community team.
It’s an interesting one this, because the franchise's official channels have been quiet ever since the news of Studio Liverpool’s closure emerged. With WipEout 2048 having done the bulk of its business, it doesn’t really make sense for Sony to continue engaging with the game’s community – unless it has more titles on the horizon.
We know it’s a long shot, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the rumoured next-generation WipEout ended up launching alongside the PlayStation 4 after all...

Fascinating. On 22nd August, the WipEout community team made a post stating that the game's official Facebook page would no longer be "maintained by the WipEout team". And now this. What's changed?
