Killzone: Shadow Fall, one of the highlights during Sony’s bombastic PlayStation 4 coming out party, will be a launch title for the next generation machine this holiday. Guerrilla Games confirmed the news in a PlayStation Blog post, before sharing some more information about the stunning first-person shooter.
“The game is set in a near future, 30 years after the events of Killzone 3,” senior producer Steven Ter Heide explained. “The world is a very different place; two rival factions known as the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall. Tensions are high, and the cold war they are embroiled in is about to go hot.”
As battles break out between the two warring factions, you'll adopt the role of a Shadow Marshal who’s tasked with maintaining the delicate balance between the two warring sides. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like the solution will be as easy as sitting everyone down and talking their problems through.
We’ll get to learn a little more about the exclusive shooter later in the year, but in the meantime you can point your browser towards the first gameplay footage through here. Are you excited for a new entry in the Killzone franchise? Let us know in the comments section below.

This is absolutely amazing! I hope inFamous Second Son is a launch title too.
How does that fit into the fiction?
Really don't get why people are excited for this. Looked beautiful visually but boring as hell. Nothing couldn't be done on current consoles. If this is the big must have launch title then count me out.
As a Killzone fan the aspect if the game that impressed me the most wasn't the graphics, although they were incredible, but the story/setting. I like how its not a carry on from 3 so we get the same fascinating Killzone universe, but new characters and locations. I remember Luger in Killzone 1 was a shadow marshal so its good to finally get some backstory on them. Hopefully the Vektan n Helghan Cold war era Berlin situation with sharing the city will make for an intriguing storyline d
I'm even more excited for this now, the gameplay looked like it was inspired by Crysis, but that's not a bad thing. As for the graphics, I wasn't expecting a huge leap, but the game looked fantastic. I'm glad Sony is deciding to let Killzone: Shadow Fall lead the charge. I can't wait until Guerrilla releases another gameplay trailer.
@ThreadShadow I heard that it's 30 years after Killzone 3. The Helghast and Humans are living on the same planet and this city is divided between the two by a giant wall. There has been a cold war since the events of Killzone 3, but it appears to be heating up again.
