Hey, who remembers DUST 514? The massively multiplayer online PlayStation 3 shooter was meant to be a pretty big deal back before it launched in 2013, but the free-to-play title never really found its wings. The game ties into popular PC release EVE Online, with its ground battles having an impact on the intergalactic adventure with which is shares its universe. As it turns out, not enough people gave a damn.
Needless to say, publisher CCP has announced that it'll be shutting the title down on the 30th May. Apparently, one of CCP's studios is working on a "replacement" shooter for PC that's going to be built using Unreal Engine 4. Is there a chance that this new project might end up coming to PlayStation 4 eventually? We wouldn't rule it out.
In any case, CCP has expressed its gratitude to those who stuck with DUST 514. Dare we ask if you enjoyed the game? Have one last session in the comments section below.

It came to late to PS3 the idea of the game was good and was enjoyable but they had nothing to build on.
They should have waited a little bit, re-optimized and made it a ps4 launch title like WarFrame. I guarantee it would have done MUCH better because at the time of launch there wasn't a lot to play and it could have got the user base it deserved. Just poor planning IMO.
I played Dust 514! I had multiple accounts and enjoyed it a ton. At one point I was playing almost every single day, and had become a somewhat regular (and recognizable face) on the forums (under a different name). I won't say what my main account was called but I was a Beta veteran, and I fought on Caldari Prime, and was rocking a pretty decent positive k/d ratio while being one of the few Caldari Logis who actually did her freakin' job.
And then CCP did one of the most stupid, asanine pr blunders in the history of all video games. Don't know what the "Rouge Wedding" is? Good, be happy that a video game company hasn't spit on you as hard as CCP did that day. It seriously broke the community in two, and tons of people I used to play with biomassed that day. I quit and didn't touch Dust for a long time until last year when I decided to go back and see if anything had changed.
But by that point the game was just an empty shell of its former self, and speaking of which, I have no interest whatsoever in Project Valkyrie. Way to go CCP. White Wolf says hello. (--_-- )
Also, pay Rattati and the rest of CCP Shanghai a huge bonus for trying to fix your mistakes.
I think it goes to show how great of a job Bungie did with Destiny in creating an MMO/FPS for a console audience. Yes it has many flaws but it was able to streamline many of the troupes that come from both genres without overwhelming the player from the start.
I gave it a go but it wasn't much fun or very memorable. Weapons weren't very satisfying to use.
Nope, never tried it, but I do remember the announcement.
I thought the gunplay horrible I played it for like 15-30 mins and deleted it from my harddrive. I'm supprised they left the servers on this long to be honest.
I tried it twice it was not good, rather laggy.
I played it from time to time, but I don't remember having a great time. It was similar to PlayStation home in that it just ran way too poorly for my taste... it took ages to get from the main menu to playing a match! I also seem to remember some matchmaking issues where I'd always be classes with people far above my experience level and firepower...
All that said, I would give it another go on PS4, so I couldn't have disliked it that much. Also.... it didn't have trophies.
