Pre-orders for PlayStation VR are beginning to open around the web, with demand expected to be high out of the gate. Amazon US is yet to start taking pre-orders, but Amazon UK has just opened the option for early adopters – you can Add to Basket through here. For those of you in the UK, specialist outlet GAME is also accepting pre-orders right now – but GameStop has yet to join the party across the Atlantic. It may be worth asking in store.
The core package, for those of you who haven't been keeping track, includes the headset, the additional processing unit, a pair of stereo earbuds, and a whole bunch of cables. You'll also be eligible for a free download of The Playroom VR from the PlayStation Store. Have you decided to pre-order the PS4's magical mask today, or are you planning to wait a little while before picking up yours? Enter a different dimension below.
Update (11:15AM GMT): Erm, we hope you were fast. Amazon UK has just sold through its initial allocation of PlayStation VR stock in seven minutes. Yeah. Were you lucky? We managed to get ours.
Update (11:45AM GMT): Actually, the headset keeps coming in and out of stock. If you keep refreshing the page, you may get lucky yet.

As long as Spike Chunsoft makes a DanganRonpa VR installment, I'll buy it.
(saw their name on the list of developers on-board with the VR)
Hey all, can someone that used amazon confirm whether they charge you now or on dispatch? I know it's usually dispatch, but the option on their website is "buy now" instead of "pre-order", which makes me a bit suspicious.
Erm, it's already sold out!
@WickedKnightAl YES PLEASE! I would buy that in a heartbeat!
I have one dum question though is it region locked? Because when i opened the amazon uk page it says it might not work outside of the uk or maybe they meant the code for the playroom? Help!
Scalpers! I bet there already on ebay for £700.
@DrClayman Amazon charge you on dispatch.
@Illusionistt Hmmm... Not sure yet. I imagine the hardware would not be region locked to be honest, but can't say for sure.
@Draythedestroyer i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they were
@get2sammyb Cheers, just managed to snap one!
Heads up all, they keep coming in and out, if you're still interested, keep refreshing and trying to add to basket, I got one about five minutes ago. I imagine it's people adding to basket and not going through with it.
ordered mine at 10:57, got my auto-confirmation 10:59, be interested to know the numbers,
I already ordered 2 last night at different retailers so I won't miss out. This is the kinda excitement that I wanted to feel when the PS4 launched but wasn't quite there and I can't wait till it's October. I saw Sammy commenting earlier that gaming in general has become a little stale for him and I've felt exactly the same the last couple of years, finally VR is here to change that!
Ordered mine off Amazon, encouraged by the fact it's charging on dispatch, plenty of time to get the money.
@finalstan me too! Just ordered it
Any other places people recommend for preordering? I know Shopto is doing them. Game is too but £100 deposit is ridiculous. Not sure who is selling them now.
Should we have medical studies on VR before I buy.
Got mine ordered within the first 2 mins
@andrew20
The early adopters will be doing it for us as test subjects.
I wouldn't touch GAME for pre orders, how many times have they let people down on big releases at the last minute? (a lot). Got mine through Amazon, the link actually went live 5 minutes early, not surprised they sold out so quick though.
If the stock levels are that limited, eBay will be flooded come October with people trying to cash in.
I doubt it will sold out on Amazon, still plenty of time to meet the demand. In fact, it might be beneficial to keep it open at this stage to give Sony a sense of demand; it's no coincidence you've got a half-year gap instead of a couple of months.
I was prepared for this, so I was there at 11am to get my order in
@Splatburst yes that true I am going to wait and see.OK test(word that could get me banned) I mean early buyers of technology have fun.
I went to Game this morning, the cheeky sods wanted £100 deposit! don't think so. I managed to get one on Amazon.
I'm excited about the prospect but will not be day 1 buying. I'm going to wait at least 6 months to see how it all plays out. But the price point is decent and I'm absolutely interested, but not enough to pounce instantly.
GOT ONE! MERRY XMAS TO ME!
Just pre ordered it. If the enthusiasm of pushsquare could predict the VR sales I think it will be a giant hit!
@Illusionistt its just the plug if you buy it in uk will have 3 pin so will work in other areas just needs an adaptor
Illusionistt
@dryrain wow thank you , now all my confusion is gone and i can go ahead and purchase it without any concerns ^^.
@Jake3103 congratulations man i hope I'm next
@Illusionistt Good luck! Also, if you're based in the UK, check out ShopTo. They still seem to be taking pre-orders, and they have bundles with the PlayStation Camera if you don't already have one. They might ship outside the UK, too, but you might want to check on that.
@WickedKnightAl I was so excited when they announced it last year, I am hoping it is a launch title.
@finalstan Not only that, but you can pay it off between now and then by buying gift cards and then applying them to the order.
I preordered the PS4 within minutes of it being available and I had it fully paid off a month before launch. When I got it in the mail, it almost felt like I was getting it for free. I would have spent that money at bars and restaurants or something, and instead I got a console!
I can't preorder PSVR as I'm in the States, but I will the second it's made available!
Must. Resist. Initial. Fanboyism.
I've budgeted it into my Xmas spend so I'm going to hold out he says' with gritted teeth
Everyone that got one, congratulations!
@glassmusic Excellent idea, wouldn't have thought of this myself but it's exactly what I will do.
Idk where my hype went for this thing. I guess tbh I never really was that hyped to begin with.
I really wanna see what kind of games it'll get long term, and if publishers will stick with it or drop it after 2 years and marginal profits.
@JaxonH I get that completely and thought that myself, but suppose it's marketing done right: right price, revealed at the right time, with the right stats to support it (50 games, 230 developers). All of this is reassuring, fuelled by nostalgia to 'original' VR plus for another paradigm shift, everybody wants it, games are becoming more and more generic. I think VR will have influence on 'normal' games as well. Every time there's a paradigm shift everything's fluid, more creative e.g. that's how you get works of art that stay with you for a lifetime. As things mature genres are identified and we are being put in boxes more and more, until another shift etc.
I will pick one of these up for 20 dollars in a few years when they are in the bargin bin with Sony's other failed experiments like the Move and the PSTV.
@finalstan
Oh I totally understand the benefits it brings and I'm all for it. But personally, they can spout number of games coming and say this many developers are supporting it all day long, but to be honest that means very little to me. It can get 1000 games and all of them be tech demos or those "VR" type games. Which is all fine and well but I want to see major experiences, ones that are really good- ones that rival the best games you can find on consoles. And I want to see that those X amount of developers pledging support actually stay with the system. There was a lot of support pledged for a lot of different systems in the past, but after a short span of poor sales they do not hesitate to jump ship.
Having said that, I'm definitely interested and plan to either pick one up this year if it's really awesome (would have to be really impressive games because $400 for NX + $600 for PSVR is $1000 on new hardware in one holiday season), or, assuming it's still around and doing well, I'm thinking Christmas 2017.
I definitely think that would be the wiser move though because unfortunately this is a pretty risky platform to invest in
@Tasuki you shouldn't be so optimistic
@Tasuki
Even then I'm not sure it's enticing enough. I don't know what it is, but I just can't get hyped for VR.
