Looks like Rockstar's readying itself for a big year, as retailers in the UK at least have started to receive Red Dead Redemption 2 promotional materials. The game – which is due out later this year, and will be advertised in conjunction with the PlayStation 4 – was announced several months ago, but details are scarily scant.
Still, this is shaping up to be one of 2017's biggest releases by far, so it's no surprise to see the label start the marketing machine early; we wouldn't be surprised if it dropped several trailers over the course of the year, in the build up to the game's hotly anticipated holiday release. But are you eager to return to the Wild West? Draw your six shooter in the comments section below.

There are too many good things coming out in 2017 its hard to get excited for only one, but this one is most likely on my radar
@AlejandroMora I dunno. While I agree, I feel like RDR2 will tower over everything in 2017. Game is going to be a runaway success. Which is good news after all of the flops this holiday, actually.
But I do agree. There's so much stuff coming in January alone, I don't really want to be thinking about Christmas again.
@get2sammyb I think we're maybe jumping the gun (no pun intended) thinking this will release this year. I can see a few delays, mostly due to the multiplayer, that will push it into 2018 easily.
Whilst I'm looking forward to this, I'm really only interested in the single player as I've hardly touched the online side of GTA too. If it's as good as the first one then I'm in!
@RedMageLanakyn Again, I agree, but they're saying Fall 2017 right now so we have to go with it until they actually do delay it.
If RDR2 is releasing THIS year, they best get a move on!
@get2sammyb Honestly the only AAA game in recent memory that actually launched on it's original release date is Fallout 4, and it definitely needed more work before it was released!
@get2sammyb
A 'runaway succes'? I think even the people from Take- Two aren't that sure about that. It's all relative of course, but with Rockstar seemingly abandoning the "little games" to fill up the caveats between GTA and RDR, production cost going through the roof and all the heavy hitters of the last gen underperforming, the meaning of 'runaway succes' has not only changed, its recipe seems to have changed as well.
RDR isn't a big name like GTA is, but Take- Two has been pouring GTA money in it, so the return on investment has to be incredibly high and is much more of a risk than it is with GTA. The Rockstar name will make up for 10- 15 million lifetime sales on itself, but after relative flops like Evolve, Mafia 3 (which didn't even sell that bad, but didn't do as expected) and Battleborn, Take- Two needs more. And as we've seen this holiday season, Juggernauts are underperforming more and more, a trend that has been visible throughout this entire gen.
Gameprices are under huge pressure, undermining the value of the IP and having gamers waiting for price drops, there are more games than ever to choose from, mobile is still on the rise and PS3 and 360 sales aren't ways of expanding your market anymore: there is so much counting on a game that only had one game that was widely acknowledged to be a huge hit, but isn't anyway near of the rock solid IP it's big bro GTA is. So if this game misses the magic that the Benz sprinkled on the last part and is met with negative/ mediocre reviews, it could just as well be a flop, although it probably sell 5- 7 million in the first month alone.
What I do know is that not just Take Two, but lots of other publishers will be monitoring this release closely, praying to God that the market finally goes back to "normal" again.
Red Dead Redemption was my persoal favourite game on PS3 as well as being the best GTA game out there even if it doesn't officially bare the name. Having said that there are quite a few games I'm much more excited for such as Horizon, Days Gone and Spiderman oh and Persona 5, also of that ridiculous rumour of that Final Fantasy collection turns out to be true well then I doubt I'll be playing anything else for some time. Still here's hoping the story is even half as good as the original game and we'll be in for a treat
It's impossible to be excited for a game that's almost a year away :/ when will devs stop with this?
I can't freaking wait. The first RDR is hands down my favorite Rockstar game.
For some reason I couldn't care less for GTA or similar type games like Watch Dogs and Just Cause, not sure why. :/
