It's been available in Europe for quite some time now, but Sony's announced that the 1TB PlayStation 4 Slim is launching in the United States this month. Obviously this is identical to the system already available in the US, it just comes with a bigger internal HDD and carries an MSRP of $299.99.
There's more information on the new arrival available through here should you require it. Any interest in this model, or would you rather plump up the extra $50 for the PS4 Pro at this point? Let us know in the comments section below.

God every time I see that system it looks....wrong. Like it triggers my OCD because its top....quarter now, doesn't match the bottom layer of the half baked cake.
Still, 1TB isn't huge on PS4 and we all know it. But hey, welcome US, to what has been the norm now for a while.
@TrueAssassin86x I'd honestly recommend paying the extra for the PS4 Pro. You don't need a 4K TV to benefit from it .
@get2sammyb I was already thinking - for that price might as well buy a Pro - before even reading the article
@BLP_Software I was looking at my Slim last night thinking, wow there's a lot of power in that little system. It's above my full sized PS3 and my X1, and boy, is it tiny. Ist practically set-top box like. If you took out the HDD and disc drive you'd have a very powerful Chromecast.
@rjejr Well thats hardware refinement for you.
Feel free to remove the disc drive. Its not used for anything. Put a bigger HDD (laptop HDD btw) in, or use that new fangled recently discovered Sony tech of external storage, and maybe it will last a while.
Theres something that will give you a culture shock when you hold it though. You want power in a small space?
What....? Why are you looking at me like that?
1 TB is okay but i already has 4 TB external hard drive and plugged on my PS4 Pro now. i has 3.3 TB left but i installed about 30 games on home screen
@BLP_Software @rjejr The PS4 Slim isn't the prettiest piece of hardware ever made, but I still maintain it looks much better in person than it does in photographs. And yeah, it is pretty small.
@get2sammyb I'm glad it's actually slim (As opposed to the PS3 which was only slim through comparison!) but..you know that sleek look is gone and it just...ugh.
I need to see one in person but I'm not upgrading unless my PS4 dies. And judging by the never ending hardware issues like crashes...
@get2sammyb I love my FF15 it grew on me i think it looks better then the original now somehow.
This is a great buy for those who don't want to upgrade the hard drive themselves. But if you don't mind the tiny bit of tinkering, it's better to just buy the cheapest Slim you can get and the biggest hard drive you want.
Is this going to be the standard SKU to purchase ?
@TrueAssassin86x Agreed. I'm not buying a PS4 Pro until we own a 4K HDR TV, and I don't see that happening until 4K HDR TVs cost $300 New.
Right now they cost around $850+, so I'm hoping the price will plummet by the time the PS5 is out (2020 if I had to guess).
@BLP_Software Microsoft is the same though, their XB1s only come with 1TB max. I agree though, launch consoles should come with 2TB standard, at least.
@get2sammyb: Yes, but if you're on a budget like me and don't see yourself owning a 4K HDR TV for many years, then a PS4 Slim is ideal. Heck, I can't even see the difference between 30 and 60 fps or 720p and 1080p.
@Mahe I'll probably be going this route myself, assuming I ever fill up 1TB. I usually only install a few games at a time, and then delete them after they've been completed.
@oatmealwarrior92 I'm sure the 1TB Slim will eventually replace the 500GB model, but for now they are selling it alongside it.
@ToddlerNaruto I'd honestly STILL go for the Pro considering it's just $50 more.
@get2sammyb: Where are you seeing the PS4 Pro being only $50 more than the Slim?
1TB PS4 Slim is $300, vs $400 1TB PS4 Pro.
@get2sammyb Oh, the PS4 Slim is ugly, but it's tiny, and it's a way better piece of kit than my 12GB super-slim PS3 w/ the junkie sliding cover.
Oh, and thanks for somehow never giving away the 3rd conduit power in 2nd Son, got it tonight, after a curse inducing boss fight, and it's pretty cool playing as Prince Noctis.
@BLP_Software "What....? Why are you looking at me like that?"
I should turn my really old home PC that runs on cassettes into a portable by adding a smartphone screen onto a Sony Walkman.
