Capcom has revealed that it's eyeing up free content updates for Monster Hunter: World following the game's release late next month. Talking to Japanese publication Famitsu -- as translated by Gematsu -- producer Ryozo Tsujimoto reveals the publisher's plans, at least partially.
"We are thinking about free, post-launch updates for Monster Hunter: World," Tsujimoto confirms. "What I can specifically say is that we plan to new monsters and such in hopes that users play for a long time. As for what kind of monsters will be added and so on, information will be shared later on, so please look forward to it."
New monsters potentially mean new quests and new equipment, so these updates could end up being quite meaty. In any case, it looks like you can expect a good amount of post-launch content from Capcom.
Are you a fan of free updates, or would you rather have big expansions? Or perhaps a bit of both? Sharpen your oversized weapon in the comments section below.

They certainly are making all the right noises at the moment. Clearly they're doing whatever they can to make this sell seriously well. It's worked for me, count me in.
@LieutenantFatman Yeah, I'm seriously considering getting it now after what I've played of the beta. Really good stuff.
Sounds good to me! Enjoyed what I played of the beta this weekend so I'm tempted to pre-order as it is anyways.
@Quintumply If you ever fancy teaming up, give me a shout. I have a feeling the hammer will be my main weapon.
Beta is awesome , I'm surprised the online multiplayer worked smoothly as it did (no offense Capcom ). Just wish it didn't end on Tuesday xD .
Ps3 graphics. Count me out
@Gunners85 Agreed that the graphics in the beta seemed not quite as sharp as that the promotional videos and screenshots showed. The art style is great, love the colors and the vibrant world. Just not quite up with the best looking PS4 games, but I wonder if some of that is just the beta being early and the real game will likely be more polished.
@oatmealwarrior92 Also agree that the online part seemed to work pretty smooth, from what I played.
Still not sure I’ll preorder. Probably not, as I have too many games to play now anyways. Maybe after the final reviews come out.
I do like seeing this that free updates will be planned. This is the type of game that will really benefit from that.
For having played every iteration release on multiple platforms since my first, Freedom on the psp I'd be damned if I am missing this.
The beta was fantastic and really just left me wishing there was more than the three trial quests and something a bit harder than the jungle menace, however it's not long to go.
Hit me up if you want to quest in the future
P.s the graphical jump from the last iteration is a god send.
@Yad0king this. I know graphics aren't everything but I mean we been seeing the same graphics for 7 years going back to MH: Tri on the Wii. This was a much needed overhaul.
I feel like this is going to be the game that Monster Hunter always meant to be. I'm not saying the games before weren't good but this is going to be on another level.
I have problem with the second boss (wildspire) on the beta, the enemy just running away and I can't defeat it with the 20 minute time llimit. My weapon damage is too small (using bow), or the weapon is too slow to use (using large sword).
And I still don't know how to mount the monster when it fell to the ground.
I love this idea of games getting free content updates ala AC Origins and FFXV. I mean devs don't have to do this, but they do. And for free? Its a nice gesture. Yeah, these games have season passes but they also give you free options to give a little more life to your games. Also stuff like the online monster hunts for Ffxv or the boss hunts in AC Origins aren't easy and reward you gear.
Makes me want to reward the game devs with day one purchases for their post launch love.
Still will wait for reviews for the final build but the beta moved this from "no" to "maybe" for me.
@Chronicus_Pr1me Well I think in terms of FFXV they almost have to do this. Because Nomura f-ed up the development of FFXIII, there was no time anymore to release the full game rectified on deadline. Instead, we are now gradually getting the missing story pieces one after another.
I would really suggest SE not handing over any big projects to Nomura again. He is good, but he is also far too costly.
@topic I would have expected free updates. I mean how else will you keep people playing the game once they have hunted down all the monsters? At some point, there has to be some minor free DLC at least. But I would be more than happy to pay for a nice big DLC.
