The Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt got a rather nifty new feature today with its latest update, allowing players to bring over a save from the PC and continue their adventures on the go with the handheld system. That functionality won't be patched into the PlayStation 4 version, however.
Speaking to USgamer, a CD Projekt Red spokesperson said that the ability was designed for the Switch specifically along with port studio Saber Interactive. "There are no plans regarding similar functionality in the other versions of The Witcher 3."
To be fair, it makes a lot of sense. The portability of the Nintendo Switch is a huge draw for players, and the chance to take the masterful experience of The Witcher 3 on the go when you can't sit in front of your PC would probably tempt a few interested parties into a purchase if they own both machines. Of course, it would have been nice to see the PS4 receive the same sort of functionality, but then the game hasn't been updated on the system in quite some time.
Will you be bringing your PC save into the Nintendo Switch version? Let us know in the comments below.

The Switch can noth be played at home and on the road. Master PC race is never gonna be able to play w/ those graphics. PS4 and Switch makes more sense.
Smart move. I was hesitant to grab the Switch version after having sunk 75 or so hours into the game on PC, but this changes things. Switch for side-quests/busywork and PC for big, cinematic story moments would be ideal for me.
@rjejr This is why I have a laptop. Granted, despite it running Witcher 3 smooth as butter, it’ll eventually be out of date and I can’t exactly upgrade my parts. It’s great to play a bit of Europa Universalis IV or Dark Souls on long train journeys though.
Not the first game to do this between PC and Switch, Divinity and CIv 6 I believe does it too, and it probably wont be the last.
Nice to have a feature like that regarding the PC/Switch versions.
Shame that they're skipping the PS4 version though.
Dang! I wish I had this on PC! I’d definitely buy the Switch version for this feature.
Damn it. I’ve been thinking about buying The Witcher on Switch, but I don’t want to go through the boring parts of the story again & I want to keep my cat school armor.
@nessisonett I've had the worst luck w/ laptops over the years. Not made for cheapo's like me. One of the colleges that just accepted my son said he had to buy 1 of theirs for $2,600. Kinda blew my mind. Hopefully it lasts him the entire 4 years if he goes there.
I loved this on CIV (Switch+PC) You only need to compromise on the GO and play full specs at home.
But i rather they let us put Witcher 3 on our GeForce NOW library on the GO. They for some reason only letting it on desktop.
I am soooo done with Nintendo's awful 3rd party support. I made a dedicated GeForce NOW - Xcloud handheld with an Oukitel K9+ Ipega 9083s
See how that goes.
That's anti consumer waaahhh waahahhh waaahhhh
While I inherently have no issue with this, what I don't like is the hypocrisy. Sony catches hell when it didn't allow consumer choice and wasn't consumer friendly when allegedly not allowing features like this. But when other companies don't do it, for whatever reason they state, those same complainers, don't say a word.
@nessisonett laptops still feel inferior as compared to a hybrid console, and I'm saying this even after months of ownership. Bulky enough to fill up half my bag on its own, strictly tabletop (despite the name, one's lap - or at least mine - proves a rather awkward surface for such electronics), no long term sleep mode if you value your battery life, and that's before getting into the usual topic of hardware configuration and compatibility hijinks on PC vs consoles in general. After reluctantly moving the newly amassed backlog from the currently comatose GPD Win, I honestly appreciate what my machine does allow me to do portably - but suffice to say, every game I have installed gets wiped off the HDDs the moment it's officially announced for Switch. Framerates and resolutions be birdflipped.
Not having this feature between ps4 and switch has just lost Nintendo a sale. I'm probably not the only one either.
I would have liked this on PS4 since I have it on PS4 and a huuuge save file on Switch. However, won't lose sleep on it.
@nhSnork Idk, laptops are just really handy for a lot of games. Considering I don’t have that much spare income, the games are way cheaper on PC and I can always use a controller for games like Sekiro and stuff. I plug it into my TV sometimes and then since I’m doing Software Engineering at uni, I basically take it everywhere I go anyway. I have a Switch but just can’t really bring myself to play it much because those controllers are truly uncomfortable. The more games compatible with Cube controllers, the better.
Why does CDPR hate Playstation?
@Steel76 What about the Switch graphics while docked? I haven't played it yet - own it on PS4 so dont' see the need to buy it again on Switch - and the screenshots I've seen PS4 looks so much better than Switch. Not that Switch looks bad, but PS4 looks so much better. Even w/ the benefit of portability I don't think I could play the Switch version knowing I have the PS4 version installed.
Wish it did. I’d buy the switch version then too
to be fair I just would stick with the PS4 version anyway going for the platinum at the moment.
