PlayStation 5 has launched in North America and other territories today, and one of its key games out of the gate is Demon's Souls. Coming from Bluepoint Games, this is a full-blown remake of the PS3 classic, and it's never looked any less than fantastic. With PS5 finally in (some) people's hands, what better time than to release a launch trailer for the game?
This new video doesn't contain much we haven't seen before, but it certainly brings the atmosphere. The title's imposing gothic style is clear as day, and it has us hyped to rid Boletaria of darkness.
Are you excited to get started with Demon's Souls on PS5? Prepare to die in the comments section below.

This trailer music is really good π
I'm so torn at this game. Every day I think about buying it. I think I'll just wait until it's a little cheaper. Maybe on black friday. It just looks so damn cool but the genre hasn't been my thing so far.
I love the look of this game but I will never buy it until its under Β£10. I'm just not that good at gaming to risk paying for it full price. If I buy a game at Β£70 then that's my gaming purchases done for a few months. If I can't get passed the first boss then I'm a bit boogered...
I'm not watching as I want to experience it myself. My order has been shipped today though so I can stare at the box for a whole week!
@ORO_ERICIUS
This is the day you take a brave step into Soulsbourne universe. You know you want to ! Endure the first hours and you'll be fine. All these games feel hardest in the beginning, but when it clicks with you, you're stuck for life !
@ORO_ERICIUS. I beat demon souls. 5 years ago on my ps3.its the easiest in the souls game to me but than again no games is to hard for me.word up son
Is there a review coming soon?
@playstation1995
"but than again no games is to hard for me" - confidence on top, me likey alot !!
Wow, finally a very high resolution trailer.
The level of detail shown in this video should be considered as normal for all the truly next gen console games. I hope other developers get inspired by this.
Awesome job Bluepoint Games!
@Zeke68 allright... so many games to play. I have enough until march next year I think then. Great to be a playstation gamer now.
@playstation1995 okay mate. I think I cannot resist. I now me too well . I have no problems with difficult games btw. I play all games on hardest difficulties.
@ORO_ERICIUS I honestly think the quick respawns might take the frustration and rage out if dying in the SoulsBorne genre. This might make a difference for you personally, not sure what your issues with the genre are. Either way it looks stunning.
@SirAngry No problems with the genre, just a little fear
It arrived today in the post! I am the squee! It's gonna be a long week.
My copy of sackboy arrived today, leaving me wondering where demons souls and spiderman are given they were posted a day earlier, but oh well. I am sure they will arrive prior to launch day. Cant wait π
@Zeke68. π haha.πword up son
@ORO_ERICIUS fear is the mind killer...
Any way, perhaps the snappy respawns might genuinely reduce that? I think the SoulsBorne games are amongst the most rewarding game experiences you can have, and Demon's Souls is the one that kicked it all off. You should consider giving it a go.
@SirAngry I get you. I will try it there is no way around it . But I am not sure if I will buy it now because I have Godfall; COD; Dirt 5 and Astro... and Valhalla for my birthday from my wife... so it is enough for now. I thank you anyway. Sorry for my bad english btw.
@ORO_ERICIUS I thought so too for a long time, even tried Dark Souls 3 first and didn't like it.
But 2 years ago i bought Bloodborne GOTY on sale, because... well, i liked the setting more.
And ended up enjoying the game so much, that it ruined a lot of other games i liked before... See the offtopic below.
Here are 3 beginner's tips :
1. Be prepared to die!
Yeah, you've red this before, but what does it mean?
Mentally, get yourself used to the idea that you're gonna die a lot and fight the same enemies again, and again, until you get better at it, defeat them easier and you can move on.
This is the best way, so that you don't go in expecting you'll defeat every enemy with ease, and then quit in rage and disappointment after the first 10-20 deaths.
2. Engage and retreat, engage and retreat, that's the way.
Study each enemy's moves, so you know when to counter, when to dodge and when to engage.
Never charge in a fight like a berserker, 'cause you're not gonna last for very long.
Never get overconfident and careless, cause the result will be an "You Died!" message on the screen.
Even a mouse can kill you in 2-3 hits in those games if you get careless, remember that.
3. Explore everything, read every piece of lore, find every secret. Those are the cherries on top of From's games, and get you caught up in their worlds.
Offtopic - Bloodborne, how i got into the genre
Maybe it can help you get started
Before i started playing, I red some beginner tips, some of the lore and i liked what i red. Being informed reduces the initial stress.
So, once i understood the basics, i got determined to start.
I took it slow, step by step, 1-2 hours a day of dying and respawning was my plan, so it wouldn't get too annoying.
But after a few hours, something clicked.
I got the hang of defeating the whole mob at the beginning, which is considered the first big hurdle in the game, determining many beginners to abandon it then and there.
And it felt so damned rewarding to be able to pass that milestone that i wanted to see more.
And that feeling stuck with me all the way through the game.
I defeated Father G after 3 tries, which is the second big milestone.
After that i got the hang of it, and that rewarding feeling "I did it! I like it, i want more" kept me going on and on.
I finished it and the DLC a few times, i have 4 characters, the biggest is an Arcanist with a char lvl over 300 and it's in the 4th New Game+ having finished all the fixed dungeons also.
I consider Bloodborne to be one of the best games ever made.
For me it's even better than Dark Souls 1-2-3, which i consider very slow for my taste (many would not agree with this, but as the romans said: "de gustibus non est disputandum").
Good luck on your first playthrough, on whichever of the SoulsBorne games you choose to start with!
@Shinnok789
wow buddy that's a really nice move of yours. That will surely help me through a decision. I'll wait for Black Friday and then have a look. But the desire is getting bigger and bigger for the game . Thanks again and stay healthy
The game is so beautifully made it makes me want to wish I was excited for it and even tempted to buy it, every time I see it. I know I still don't love it. I'm giving Seikro another try as a "launch type" game for XSX since the performance really hampered it before. I see a little more of what people love from From than I have in the past...but it's still not a wonderful experience to me.
Still hoping Nioh2 gets a boost mode support though.....
@SirAngry I had considered that the fast respawns may help. They probably do. I tend to do much better with difficult battles if I can quickly get into it versus not. I'm still in the "wait for a deep sale, play it for like 20 minutes, then never touch it again like every other FromSoft game" camp though.
For me, the idea of repeating what I've already done is a splinter in my mind. I hate repeating anything twice if I did it right once. If I could keep dying and challenging the difficult battle until I get it, I think I could enjoy it. But when I have to retrace steps, dodge traps I already dodged, fight grunts or even slightly more difficult enemies I've already done, over and over I go from 0 to rage mode in mere minutes. It feels like the old arcade design of creating value for money by just keeping you treading water indefinitely. Plus in From games I never really have any idea what I'm supposed to be doing. It's fighting things for the sake of fighting things more times than not.
Trying Sekiro yesterday again, and avoiding any and all bosses, I find it's an unholy union of "difficult for the sake of difficult - difficult by being cheap, padding retracing your steps too much - and the need for exploration Metroidvania style. There's a weird addictiveness to the combat, but the sense of not only making no progress, but also losing progress isn't just a turn-off, it's infuriating.
From builds beautiful worlds and I wish I could enjoy them, but sadly the gameplay not only doesn't click for me, but actively disgruntles me. Yet they always tempt me to buy them (on sales) anyway.
Nioh, OTOH, I also suck horribly at, but somehow I find it far more addictive in a way that's compelling to move forward.
And yes, for some unknown reason I have every FromSoft game and play none of them, plus both Niohs. I don't know why. But I do. Except this one....
Bloodborne, though...I think it's the popularity of that game in the PS fanbase, combined with TLOU that makes me wonder how I ended up having anything at all in common with the average PS fan these days. Souls just frustrates me and I find it directionless. Bloodborne I just actively dislike entirely for some reason. At least that was a Plus freebie!
@WaveWitch Haha, I'm glad I found at least one other PS fan that doesn't think Bloodborne is the greatest game of all time....it messes with your head thinking "this game is terrible!" while the entire console fan base is raving about it as simply unparalleled excellence that must be duplicated forever and ever! And yes, it did truly seem ugly to me....
I have to admit, while none of the FromSoft games seem to really work out for me, I think I could easily pit DS3 and Sekiro above the others....and Bloodborne squarely in last place. But that starts a flame war. The DS purists hate DS3.....which is probably why I must get along with it better than the others.
This one really really does want to pull me in, visually.....I have to resist the urge to blow $70 on a game I know I'll be miserably attempting to force myself to play it simply because it looks so pretty....
