The time for another NieR Replicant trailer is now, which means an overload of anime-esque storytelling and gameplay. This remake of the PlayStation 3 original is just under two months away from release now, giving you just enough time to complete a couple more playthroughs of NieR: Automata before you learn of the events that lead up to 2B and 9S' adventure. It's shaping up quite nicely if this latest slice of footage is anything to go by, complete with action-heavy sequences and combat scenes.
Is NieR Replicant a PlayStation 4 game on your wishlist? Get weird in the comments below.

I really would prefer the Papa NieR version. Either way it's an infinitely better game than Automata (Imo). Day one buy regardless.
Nier Automata was my 2nd or 3rd game of the generation so looking forward to this!
PS3 legacy level design is putting me off this.
But I'm not a fan of the series
I wish I could say this is a day 1 buy. But after square-enix's handling of the nier:automata pc port (3 years and game of the yorha edition release, no patches for the graphic issues). Also the lack of any news regarding ps5 upgrades for FFXV, KH3, and FF7R leads me to believe it will be a paid upgrade path and I might as well just get the native ps5 version. I just don't want to end up in a situation like 2k21 where you have to repurchase the ps5 version even if you own the ps4 version.
I was very disappointed at how disjointed Automata felt. Like the game was trying to many things that it did nothing right. Still, I’ll check this one out for sure.
Looks good. PS4 is going to have another great year.
I kind of want this solely based on how amazing the soundtrack for Nier Automata was. Haven't played the game in 2+ years and I still think about the desert and carnival themes.
Kind of bummed this is $60, however, Automata is one of the absolute best games of the PS4 gen, so I'll probably grab this on day one. I think it might be the only game I buy this year at launch.
I want PS5 games now.
Thanking Sony in advance.
xx
Nier automata is one of the best ps4 games so I'm hyped for this
Funny how FF16 “can’t work” with this kind of gameplay, but this and Automata are great.
Can’t wait for this, and benefit of the doubt to FF16. (That said, I’m sure it will be a mess.)
I still need to buy automata Been 50/50 on getting it, loads of people saying how good it is, but when I watch trailer I'm not too sure might just buy it next time it's on sale.
Nier: Automata is one of the best games ever made. I'm so looking forward to playing Replicant with vastly improved combat!
Can't wait!
Awesome video but no English booooo
@Daleaf give the demo a whirl, it totally sold me on it. (Assume it is still up)
@kyleforrester87 maybe it was meant as a joke and I'm dumb for not getting it, but certainly you get the difference between the 16th mainline game in a storied turn-based franchise, and the second one in a niche spin-off series that was always action focused?
On topic:
Well, if you ask me Automata is the GOAT, as it pulls off so many things other games never even thought of, so I'm super pumped at the idea of getting to know the series better.
@kyleforrester87 I didn't realize there was a demo for it, will check to see if it's still on the store later. Thanks for the that
@Daleaf Usually demos put me off buying the game, I can see why they are not as popular as they used to be. So I was quite surprised to find myself enjoying it so much!
@clvr no joke intended, I thought when playing Automata that if FF was insistent on going down the action route they should take a leaf out of its book. FF7 Remake had pretty good combat but Platinum are the benchmark when it comes to action games so I just don’t see anything wrong with FF16 having “DMC” style combat (I guess it is unlikely to be anywhere near as solid in reality) if it also nails the story, characters, setting etc.
Of course, the jury is out on that one.
Still, remaining optimistic, can’t be much worse than 15, which I also thought was ok in a pretty bad way. And if you’re taking about what FF should or shouldn’t be based on its history, I think that ship sailed a long time ago.
And while I’m on the subject, I thought Type-0 had the best action based battle system in any FF game I’ve played.
@kyleforrester87 ah ok, I get your point better now 👍🏻
It just seemed an unfair comparison in the other comment, but now I get what you mean.
Also note that I'm not a FF fan by any means, I've barely played the first 5 hours of X on my mate's PS2 4/5 years ago and got bored fast, so I'm neither in favor of tradition nor pushing for innovation, I'm just a curious bystander who likes to keep up with the news 😄
I haven't played 7R but I'd like to one day, as you said the combat looks super intriguing; I haven't played 15 either, but I agree that the combat sounds embarrassing by all accounts of everyone I've heard describe it.
As you said, let's hope they take cues from Platinum and Capcom, who are masters at that.
@clvr Final Fantasy hasn’t been “Final Fantasy” for longer than Final Fantasy was “Final Fantasy” now, so about all fans can hope for these days is for the next one to be better.
Fortunately we are still a long ways off Sonic territory!
Butt-Robots: Zero.....?
Yeah, alright.
@kyleforrester87 yeah it must be hard being a FF fan, I certainly don't envy you!
And don't even get me started on Sonic, being a fan of his is pure masochism 😂
Yes it is on my wishlist. I am just waiting on Square Enix to make more White Snow editions available to i can purchase one.
If this does well I wonder what's the odds of us getting a Drakengard trilogy collection. Would really like a chance to play 1 and 2 since 3 is the only one I've played
@Daleaf You can get it dirtcheap everywhere already?
@clvr The old Final Fantasy games are aquired taste ill take them over the new entries but thats personal grew up with those games. One thing is that they are complete day one full story work completely no patches. FF7/8 tied and FF9 second place i have played these games for over the hundreds of hours ever entry.
@clvr - Automata didn't do anything original. All it did was copy things already seen in NieR Gestalt/Replicant almost a decade beforehand.
@Shigurui never played that though, so I wouldn't know.
I'll play Replicant and then compare the two 👍🏻
Edit: also doesn't change the fact that no other series even comes close to Nier's approach to storytelling.
