Sony has published a brand new video about Gran Turismo 7. Entitled 'The Starting Line (Behind The Scenes)', we were expecting the video to delve into the game's development a smidge, lifting the bonnet a little on what makes the driving simulator tick. Instead, Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi waxes lyrical about car culture for about 90 seconds.
Kaz is as passionate about cars and motorsport as ever, of course, and he describes the culture as a "very multi-faceted thing". His ultimate point is that GT7 will be a "comprehensive title" that will let you enjoy its various vehicles in multiple ways. "Whether you drive fast, collect cars, design liveries in the editor, or take photos, all of these are elements of your 'life with cars'," He says.
It's not the most enthralling video we've ever watched, but there is some very nice footage of numerous cars and races to enjoy.
Gran Turismo 7 is coming to PlayStation 5 and PS4 on 4th March 2022. Are you excited for this new entry in this historic racing franchise? Park within the lines in the comments section below.

It is Halloween soon after all, Kaz’ stool is a horrifying thought.
@RedKnight34 PC version should be 100% but probably not day one
Online only nah pass.....I do not care how big you are...there was a time when you had the choice.
@RedKnight34 Bigger question, who cares?
I prefer PlayStation to Xbox but I'm sorry to say I think the upcoming Forza Horizon 5 will do better than this. No offline Single Player is a big turn off for many people

Pre-order and recieve 3 cars + 100,000Cr (in game credit).
I know GT has always had credits but have we had any confirmation on whether or not this is riddled with MTX?
@themightyant Are you new to Car Games nowadays lol? Forza Horizon 5 has a 50€ Auto Pass at launch and a 100€ Digital Deluxe with all kind of MTX. This is pretty much standard in that Genre
I want offline single player portion..
F1-2021, Forza on the way... GT7 to start 2022!
Good Times for racing fans 👍
@RedKnight34
And next question after that... how does it run on Proton for SteamDeck
I can’t wait for this. Really hoping for a PSVR 2 mode.
@IonMagi Thankfully I remember games before this was 'standard in the genre' from Gran Turismo, through Project Gotham, Forza Horizon and before. Doesn't make it cool.
@themightyant Yeah thats why I wrote "Nowadays" GT Sport also already tons of DLC Cars
@RubyCarbuncle Horizon is a much different game from Gran Turismo, not to mention, different from its own Forza Motorsport series.
But I will say, for me personally, I enjoy Forza Motorsport much more than I do GT. GT feels slow and bland (to me). The sense of speed in Forza — while maybe not as "realistic" — is much greater and just feels more immersive: driving at 120mph in GT feels like I am doing 50 in my car IRL, which is not what I am going for when I boot up my PS5. And then as true sims go, I'd rather play an Assetto Corsa instead.
@Agramonte Great times, indeed. Now — I just need Fanatec to announce & release the new CSL DD for PlayStation already🤷
@IonMagi those were all part of free updates tho, GT has been dealing with new content in a completely different way compared to Forza
@IonMagi I didn't play that one (thankfully it seems). Gran Turismo always had a huge roster of cars that could be won through the game, and they came at quite a quick rate too.
To be fair I don't think Forza Horizon does it too badly either. The last one had a HUGE range of cars in the main game and you got a lot of free cars and credits to buy more. I never felt short of either. The car passes definitely felt like additional cars rather than cars that were taken away.
I wouldn't mind if GT7 handled it like that. My concern is that they will dole out cars or credits more stingily than in the past or reduce the number of cars drastically and sell the rest.
@Sborro no lol, the Store has tons of cars for 1,99€ each for GT Sport
@IonMagi those are all optional mtx for people who don't wanna spend their time on the game, you can 100% get all of the cars just by playing
@RubyCarbuncle
Even I don’t know much about racing games but this is a very different genre than the recurring Xbox game you mention. (And I doubt many people buy the ‘offline’ game)
Edit
Why on Earth is everyone talking about Xbox games here ?
I thought it was a PlayStation site.
Not a huge fan of driving games
This does look very very good though.
@RubyCarbuncle Forza Horizon is superior to GT games as more fun. GT at times is just sterile
Forza so better that’s why gt sell 3x better 😂.
@Originut Sim racing is a bit of a niche market — and one that I am new to myself — and I do think the arcadey, open world games (like Horizon, which looks amazing) appeal to more of masses and casual racing gamers. But there are still some sim racing options for enthusiasts: Assetto as I mentioned, Project Cars, and then "sim-cade" titles like Forza and GT of course👍
@4kgk2 Not arguing which game is "better" — I'm a Sony guy, only recently bought a Series X after skipping XB1, but I found GT Sport to be a snooze fest. Forza I've actually had fun with. Just my personal experience, that's all.
@eagletrippin gt is actually a racing simulator forza isn’t maybe you not into actual racing simulator like gt and you like rewinding time in a race which is ok lol.
@4kgk2 Wooooow. Yeah, okay, GT fanboy. There are plenty of PC racing enthusiasts (who play iRacing, ACC, RF2, Automobilista, etc.) that will laugh at you thinking that GT is on their level of racing simulation. So I wouldn't talk like some elitist snob if I were you... I'm actually still new to sim racing, and just learning, etc. But, thanks for your opinion from up high — I don't sim race to be known as some "hardcore, realism racing" guy, or to be at the top of leaderboards — I play for the immersion, and for my own enjoyment. Good luck to you in your GT world tournaments, champ.
Finally they patch GT sport in to a full title. This is GT sport's engine with a proper frontend and single player missions and a few more cars and tracks. It's taken them since gt 6 to produce this. So all of the PS4 life span and now 2 years in to ps5 as well, this was meant to be a launch title. And before that it was meant to be on PS4 as well, but they just never did.
I'm sick of waiting 5 years for a new game from them every time, especially now with ACC and other games that have much better physics, force feedback, sounds, immersion and online modes.
I think I'll wait for a second hand copy if it gets good reviews from the Sim community.
@4kgk2 I'm a Sony guy first, and used to be a mega GT fan boy, but Forza Motorsport 7 is a better game than GT6 or GT 7 Prologue (Gt Sport) . The physics are basically the same as GT Sport but there is an actual game as well. It's probably a touch more arcade and forgiving but GT sport isn't no Asetto Corsa or iRacing anyway. I would rather play Forza than GT sport.
PD have been lost ever since GT Prologue on PS3 and them taking 6 years to make GT5...
@eagletrippin I feel the exact opposite - I found FM7’s modes, online and offline, so bland and repetitive. Online is almost unplayable with all the rammers. Hopefully that’ll be fixed for the next version. Offline I’ve learned so much about driving since playing GT Sport - there’s nothing like the drivers school or the circuit challenges in Forza. There are just identical races on different tracks.
I also felt the handling is a lot better in GT Sport. Driving aids are a lot less intrusive on GT Sport too.
@MB81 I can't disagree with that! Again, I'm not saying Forza MS is the better game, just that it's more fun to me — so I definitely respect your preference that Forza is the bland one! But I would agree, online is setup waaay better in GT Sport with better, more serious sim racers. And offline, Forza's AI is not as good. What do I like about the Forza are the tracks, weather & lighting, and graphics! On Series X, FM7 already looks like a next-gen game! GT Sport looks noticeably lower res; and this combined with a lack of sense of speed (which doesn't appear to have been changed in GT7 based on videos) just seems less appealing to me. For me it helps with the immersion... Like @Originut said, I wish GT7 wasn't tied down by last-gen version development — I was expecting the graphics to blow my balls off when they revealed it last year, and while it looks really good, it largely looks like the 4k60 game that GT Sport could have been on a console more powerful than the PS4 Pro...
I may just revisit GT's driving school again. Finding myself spinning out way too much in other titles and just cannot correct it🤦
@eagletrippin hopefully the dynamic weather in GT7 will raise the level a bit, definitely feels missing from GT Sport.
I really like the circuit challenges. You get a video and description of the best way to approach each corner in a section with a time challenge. So good for learning tracks the proper way.
@4kgk2 Source? oh wait how silly of me you don't have one and what I said here is my own personal opinion. GT 7 is dead to me and many others. If you like it cool but have fun with it while you can it's only temporary.
@RubyCarbuncle gt7 will sell like crazy and massive outsell forza horizon and the next main line forza game you want to bet on that.
@4kgk2 Whatever you say. But you won't be able to play GT7 at all when the servers are switched off. Fanboy = you.
Oh and still no Source? I guess there's nothing more to say.
