As the year slowly begins to wind down, we’re picking up the speed. As has become a Christmas tradition here at Push Square Towers, we’ll be plugging the gaps in the news schedule with our biggest ever selection of Game of the Year content, and it all gets underway from tomorrow. For the next 12 or so days, you’ll be bombarded with stories on the biggest and best PlayStation releases of 2021.
As always, you’ll find our Top Ten countdown, which was determined by both our editorial team and you, the readers. We’re pretty satisfied with the selection, but we want everyone to get involved as well, so there’ll be plenty of polls and scope for discussion. In addition, we’ll be publishing your favourite games early in the New Year, so you can see exactly what the community voted for a few weeks back.
We’ll be complementing all of this with our personal picks, digging into genre categories, and also looking forwards with some of the stories set to shape 2022 on the PS5 and PS4. Then we’ll have some thoughtful editorials on the things that defined the past 12 months in PlayStation, and a few other surprises along the way.
This is our biggest ever Christmas content schedule, with more than 40 articles scheduled. And, of course, while we expect the industry to slow down for the holiday period, we’ll also be on hand to share any breaking news with you, including the January 2022 PS Plus lineup and much more. It’s a festive fiesta, so once you’re done with all the turkey sandwiches and mince pies, you know where to find us.

@RogerRoger I heard the Pridelands level music immediately
Looking forward to it! Thanks again for all the work you guys put into the site over the year
@RogerRoger Oh no, The Lion King haunted me this year! I could only get like 3 levels into it 😂
Love it. Love this site. Love you guys!
Have some good Christmas everyone
CYBERPUNK 2027 = GOTY
@Londoncalling Oh no, how do you know?! You've ruined all our work now.
Is the "RED E" a clue?
Resident "E"vil village gets top spot 🤔
@Londoncalling is that the prequel?
@carlos82 nah it's a glimpse into what life will be like by the time we've finally got rid of COVID
@theheadofabroom that soon? 😆
@carlos82 I really hope, I know things looked like they'd last forever this deep into Spanish Flu, so fingers crossed?
@lolwhatno @UltimateOtaku91 It's a reference to an old PlayStation ad.
@RogerRoger Truth
I can write a 37,000 word essay on why Nioh 2 is my GOTY if you like
EDIT No never mind that was last year. Oh well I've written it now
It Takes Two should win hands down. No other Playstation game really impressed me this year that I can think of.
Well, Astalon Tears of the Earth was phenomenal but apparently I'm one of nine people who actually played it 😥
@RogerRoger the hardest game of every year
Game of the year 2021, lol
@sketchturner I've never even heard of that and I do this for a job!
Bonesawwwwww’s Red E
Really interested to see the list.
I am so glad you guys made the red-e reference. Looking forward to the list!
Spoiler: its returnal
We all know you gonna pick Returnal and we thank you for that.
@RogerRoger Level 2 used to drive me insane as a kid. The Lion King was easily one of the most difficult games I had ever played as a kid.
