We already know that the PlayStation 5 version of GTA Online will feature a new location at the LS Car Meet, which will allow you to upgrade select cars with performance improvements that will make them faster than was possible on the PS4. And now Rockstar has confirmed that anyone who transfers their character from the last-gen console to Sony’s new-gen system will get a free car, specifically souped up with some of these console exclusive improvements.
“Those eager to continue their journey on the latest generation consoles will get a fully converted Karin S95 souped up by the experts at Hao’s Special Works, along with a Hao’s Special Work Racing Outfit, and set of new Chameleon paints usable on all vehicles,” a Rockstar Newswire post explains. We’re fascinated to see just how fast these new rides will go, and how they’ll compare to the Fastest Cars already available in the game.
Will you be transferring your progress across, or starting over with the new Career Builder? Remember, GTA Online will be free to claim on PS5 for three months, and if you want the single player campaign it’ll only cost you $9.99/£8.75 until 14th June. All this, alongside a free souped up car and smaller file size footprint, is making this return trip to Los Santos look better and better.

Why not, free is free.
Id love them to push out a red dead 2 next gen patch but it just isnt the cash cow gta is so chances are non existent.
I'm not buying this game again for a single pound let alone 8
inb4
yes I know the online will be free
How is that going to work then if it's crossplay with PS4 will those cars be invisible to PS4 users , will they be banned in races with players on both consoles because they're faster....
Oh woop de doo a free car! I wonder where I'm gonna place it? Or that's right gonna need a nice apartment with a garage that cost a tenner in real world money 🙄🙄
@LordOfTurnips not even for free, Rockstar can keep their toilet rubbish 😤😤
Never did buy this. Tried it a couple times when it was free for a limited time with Plus, I think, or maybe one of the few times I got PS Now, and just hated the driving experience so much I ragequit. Driving is supposed to be such a key part of this game, but it felt so awful - is it just me, or is it really different/worse than so many other driving games?
This is pretty interesting. I think it is god awful GTA V is releasing yet again and GTA Online is some strange monstrosity I don't understand, but the real meat and potatoes of this article is not the free car for PS5 owners in GTA Online. The real story is behind the scenes. Cars can physically drive faster on PS5 because their speeds are not limited by how fast assets can be streamed in from the PS4's HDD. I enjoy finding little examples of the new tech being utilized, even if it is in subtle ways like this.
@LordOfTurnips I am happily doing it
@TheCollector316 Its going to be interesting seeing what the future holds for the consoles once cross gen fades away. These SSD's are game changes for sure.
@RobN No, no. The driving is absolute trash compared to other driving games like Need for Speed and those are a bit ropey too in places but nothing like GTA. Its literally like driving on ice in GTA
