If you're looking to sample the much improved Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation 5, then you had better get a move on. The game's free 'next-gen' trial will be removed from the PlayStation Store just after the coming weekend, on Tuesday the 15th March at 4PM UK time.
Said trial lets you put Cyberpunk 2077 to the test for five hours. That's obviously not enough time to fully appreciate everything that the open world game has going for it, but you should be able to get a decent feel for what it's trying to do. What's more, if you do decide to purchase the full product, you can carry over your save data from the trial.
So yeah, we'd recommend giving it a shot if you haven't already. Cyberpunk 2077 was a complete bust on PS4 at launch, but CD Projekt Red's RPG has come a long, long way since — and on PS5 it's actually pretty great (and will, presumably, only get better with future DLC and updates). We gave the PS5 version an 8/10 in our Cyberpunk 2077 review.
Will you be taking a trip to Night City this weekend? Augment yourself in the comments section below.

Bought it for $10 on a clearance sale and if the game had released like the way it is now, it would have received a MUCH better reception.
Its decent now for anyone wanting to try it out on PS5.
Still dont recommend playing on a PS4
Was finally enjoying this game
…then Elden Ring came out
If you play through quick enough you might just see Panam bending over that bonnet. I like the bartender chick too - Claire or so. Judy's a bit annoying.
Are the disc issues with the upgrade ps4 to ps5 in Europe fixed yet?
Wouldn't mind playing the full version that I own on PS5 but the store wants £39.99 for it and my library only shows that I own the PS4 (digital) version. Not impressed.
@Netret0120 I think if they had waited until the game was ready to release it we would be talking about it as a game of the year contender but as is the whole fiasco seems to have poisoned the well.
If you’ve not played it, I would highly recommend. I’ve yet to even dive into Elden Ring or HFW because I’ve been playing 2077 on PS5. It’s so, so sick imo.
@Wolfie_Pie It was a lot to wrap my head around but I'm glad I did. It allows for so much choice. I've never felt so engaged by an upgrade system. I've been loving trying to turn my V into and unstoppable agile tank. I'm almost there.
I got the 5 version on sale and I'm currently playing through it. There's absolutely no doubt it's an INCREDIBLY detailed game, the open world is massive and there's tons to do in it, but I can't say I'm enjoying it as much as I thought I would. While I'm aware it's a very story-driven game, for a FPS / Action-adventure game, all I feel like I'm ever doing is listening to dialogue and making conversation choices. Not exactly my idea of fun and that seems to be 70 - 80% of the game. :-/ Just not for me, I guess, but I'm glad lots of others seem to be enjoying it more than I am.
@DETfaninATL You need to spend more time playing the Gigs and NCPD Assualts in progress. Those are for the most part pure action or stealth with minor world building that can usually be ignored. They also have some of the best rewards and NCPD are great for raising street cred.
It’s worth giving it a go. Now that the game has, I guess, “gone gold” over a year after its initial launch, it’s actually a really fun experience. Haven’t played through it all but it’s definitely worth trying if you have spare time this weekend.
I think I spent nearly five hours in the character creator when I first booted it up on launch day...! Yes, I'm one of those people.
@RBRTMNZ
Most definitely. CD Projekt Red wet the bed here massively. The next game they announce, people will be rightfully skeptical. Not a chance i'd pre-order it. I'll wait for reviews
@DETfaninATL
That's odd. I've been playing for 30+ hours and I feel like maybe 5% or less of my time has been in dialogue. Are you playing only the main story or something? There are tons of sidequests all over the place that are very action-focused.
@Marquez that's a lot of time spent adjusting the length of your dong, fair play👍
I bought it just last week and I couldn’t get into it. It felt slow and boring. The dialogue left a lot to be desired and having the game be 1st person only seemed like an odd choice.
Hmm, let me just get my imaginary ps5 console to play it 🙄🙄 lol
@RicebinBernacky Truth be told, that's 90% of what I've been doing - playing the story & side missions and getting all the different endings. Hopefully my opinion will change when I shift over to the other activity types in the game. I'm TRULY impressed by the size, scope and especially the detail of the world they've created - NO DOUBT!
@Ashkorsair yes, they were fixed the day after launch.
@huyi you and me both lol
i installed it & never bothered booting it up . i uninstalled it for ghost runner and GTA online 😂
Removed - flaming/arguing
I already grabbed Cyberpunk 2077 during a $10 sale in 2021, but thanks for the heads up!
I was originally waiting to play this until it came out on the current generation of consoles. I wasn't expecting that to be a digital only release though; so now I wait for the physical retail release, which probably won't happen until we get a Deluxe edition.
