There's been quite a bit of speculation surrounding the future of Cyberpunk 2077 following the release of update 1.5 back in February. That game-changing patch launched alongside the infinitely improved PlayStation 5 version of 2077, but developer CD Projekt Red has been pretty much silent since — aside from a smaller update that hit about a month later.
Even we thought that the company would have published some kind of revised roadmap for the game, but it hasn't happened. Fortunately, talkative quest director Pawel Sasko has reassured fans that additional content is still in the works.
During a recent livestream Sasko said: "We are working on stuff for you. Like, I'm literally daily reviewing quests, talking to people about stuff, so it is happening. I cannot tell you anything about our future plans [...] but I can assure you that we are working on expansions — we're working on stuff for you guys."
Hopefully, then, we hear more about what's in store soon. It's worth reiterating that CDPR had previously promised two full expansions for Cyberpunk 2077, as well as a range of free DLC (some of which has already been included in past updates).
Given that the last patch for 2077 arrived in March, we would assume that another update will be dropping within the next few weeks — but it really all depends on what CDPR's immediate plans are. While we doubt that the game will get another update as significant as 1.5 was, we could still see the studio making a lot of improvements in the coming months — especially as we edge closer to the title's first proper expansion announcement.

I tried playing the ps5 version for like 4 hrs,but it's so boring. Am I missing something? Do I need to play longer for it to get fun?
Take your time with it !!! Add actually interesting gameplay features and systems in the world!! That’s what made Witcher so fun, hope they don’t forget that. We don’t want edgy music and dialogue, just make good content, thanks.
Just finished "finishing" the game, so that it's actually playable. Then immediately announce Witcher 4 while there's DLC being made for this game still.
I just don't get CDPR. Why are they forcing everything out so quickly? We're gonna have to wait God knows how many years for Witcher 4 now
@Americansamurai1 You are dead inside.
I just want nxt gen Witcher 3 with added photo mode in it ...
I look forward to the Expansion whenever that may be. I hated Cyberpunk 2077 before but after playing it on PS5 I acknowledge the work they put into setting things right.
Give me a VR mode compatible with psvr2 and I would be so happy. Don't need combat or anything. Just a mode where I can walk around night city would be a dream
@BoldAndBrash We must have different definitions of “quickly” given the numerous delays they’ve already experienced with the PS5 version…
@theMEGAniggle Well, I for one want more joy toys 😉
@BoldAndBrash yeah they announce their projects way too early. I get generating hype but announce it 1 or 2 yrs before release, not 7 like cyberpunk or potentially 200 like the Witcher 4.
@Starkei I’m sure they’ll add some 🤣
@Americansamurai1 same, got very bored, I’ve not not played it for long enough to have forgotten the controls so unlikely to revisit
I just recently played through the PS5 version and found it to be a bit of a mixed bag. Night City is incredibly detailed and deep with tons to do, but there was SOOOOO much dialogue in the story missions I got bored w that aspect of it pretty quickly. The miscellaneous tasks which were more action oriented were fun though. I suppose I'd revisit it once all the DLC is out, on sale and I've got nothing else to play.
Played the game for a couple of hours, but I wasn't really impressed. I may get it one day when it's on sale, but not right now.
@Starkei don't we all
I played it in a somewhat “unplayable” state and still enjoyed myself plenty.
CDPR put an incredible amount of detail into their games. I like that. But I understand it’s not for everyone, much like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk featured a truckload of dialogue.
Cyberpunk 2077 was definitely a slow starter which is problematic I think, because a lot of people will lose interest before actually getting to know the game.
I will probably revisit the game when the new content arrives.
It must feel awful working on an expansion that virtually no one will ever bother playing. Problem is they can’t afford to phone this one in so I’d imagine it will be very good.
@BoldAndBrash To get people to join the company. Games like W4 and Splinter Cell remake aren't for us the consumers. It's for getting the word out that "hey we're making this, come and work for us". We'll be seeing a fair few more of these "now in development" titles announced in the coming months because job retentions has slowly started to become a problem among AAA studios. It's why Sony are spending $1.2 billion to encourage Bungie employers to stay on.
@AdamNovice I’d never considered that angle before but it makes total sense. Other recent examples are the Max Payne remakes, announced while they are still in the “concept development stage”, way before they’ll have anything meaningful to actually show the public.
Meanwhile I'm here still waiting for the PS5 version of Witcher 3 as an excuse to finish off the DLC at last.
@Americansamurai1 the early game is particularly weak, but if you keep at it then it rises to the lofty heights of "fine". By the time you've hit level 20 you're starting to get some interesting skills and some legendary gear, and it's almost interesting?
I'm at level 34 and some of the later side content is good. One or two of the characters are interesting and well fleshed out. I guess some people will have strong feelings either way about how often this game is horny on main?
@gabuloid yeah yeah I am lol
@theMEGAniggle yes, agreed.
@DiscoStuUK I hadn't considered that for a long time either till some industry pundits pointed it out. So chances are if a game is announced and it's nothing more then just a title then it's probably a glorified job ad.
@Americansamurai1 nope you aren't wrong, its terrible, boring, derivative, and the actual gameplay and game ui are just a slog.
Even in a barely playable state, this game is unfinished. even had it been finished, the foundation of its story and storytelling are just plain bad.
@Relygon The issue is Cyberpunk lacks detail which is a massive one.
I think Cyberpunk failed to execute on it's vision. The translation from pen and paper to a video gamer failed and ended up messy and incomplete. It's a shame management lacked the talent. It's my biggest disappointment of the past 10 years.
Not even playing this for free. So many better options
@Starkei
Beggars can't be choosers
@Americansamurai1 No. It's boring all the way. For me it's all the conversations where you're locked in and because its 1st person I can't see Vs reactions to what is being said which made me stop caring about what was going on. I also find the skill tree to be a complete mess. This is the kind of game I believe would benefit by being smaller in scale, not story or quests but map size. I often felt like I was driving too long from point A to B for no other reason than because it was created that way.
@Americansamurai1
I agree with you to some extent. I am enjoying it, but its open world is really awkward compared to say, HFW.
The main story seems to push you to play through, so I think I need to break off that rail and try to look around Night City just for fun
I literally finished the game last night and here are my thoughts:
Personally like the open world RPG aspect of the game. The world is well done, side characters and some of their missions are pretty interesting and the combat is decent.
Thought the main story was not great. It started pretty interesting but it just tailed off after a couple of hours. That was pretty disappointing. Also while the game seems more polished now, I still had like 5 hard crashes in the 50+ hours that I've played it. Some small bugs like characters t-posing and random cars crashing in the background too.
Overall I would give it a 7.5/10
Unless the DLC turns out to be amazing and CP2077 goes ftp, I won't be playing.
I feel like a lot of the present day criticism about the game being unfinished is coming from folks who were burned at launch and haven't bothered to give it a second chance since.
It's in a really pleasant state right now. It's not perfect but it's a good game at this point and it's nice to see that it's still getting attention from the people that made it. It's hardly a disastrous experience.
@bozz Agreed. I held off getting the game until I had a PS5 and the next gen update. I am 36 hours or so in and loving the game. There definitely are things that were left out which you can see traces of (for example no real reason to choose between non-lethal or lethal route except maybe for cyberpsychos) and quite a few graphical glitches, but I am yet to experience a crash or any major bug. I am enjoying it and aiming for the platinum, its one of my top games for the year so far. I would recommend anyone to give it a second chance on the ps5 with patch 1.5
Any story expansion is Day 1 for me. So many characters they can expand on.
i hope they open the map up , and give something in the lore that you hear on the radio so much potential im excited.
@Americansamurai1
It has a slow beginning sure but it's not a super fast paced game and doesnt intend to be one. It has a lot of dialogue which is par for the course for RPGs. I personally like that not every mission is shooty shooty explody and it's a nice change of pace after playing a Doom or a Quake but it's not for everyone.
I recently got the platinum on PS5 and I enjoyed the game, but it wasn't close to meeting the hype it had. The writing is the biggest highlight and while parts of night city are dense I wouldn't say there's much to do. GTA5's world is still head and shoulders above Cyberpunks.
