The House of the Dead Remake is a relatively authentic recreation of SEGA’s seminal arcade shooter, but without a lightgun in hand, it just doesn’t feel quite right. PS Move support was, of course, promised prior to release and has been officially patched in today. You’ll need to update your game – and make sure you have a PS Camera adaptor if you’re playing on PS5 – to use your motion wands.
You can use the zapper-style shell if you want to, and the PSVR Aim Controller – which was primarily invented for PSVR, of course – is also supported. None of these quite offer a true arcade experience – you’re still effectively controlling a cursor, after all – but it is better than an analogue stick. If you’re planning to test this out, do let us know how you get on in the comments section below.

Add this to the extremely short list of non-vr PS4 games that use the PS Camera/Move. The only other titles I can think of off the top of my head are Playroom, LBP3 and Tearaway Unfolded.
I used to love this functionality on PS3 in titles such as Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Sports Champions, Beat Sketcher, and a few others. But the inescapable drift issue ruined the experience every time, especially with the otherwise excellent Sharpshooter peripheral.
Would've been cool if the upcoming PS VR2 controllers were supported outside of VR, but there's practically no chance of that since their tracking is dependant on the headset and its built-in cameras.
That's fantastic! I've been playing Darkside Chronicles on PS Now with the controller, and it's awful. I didn't want to buy House of the Dead until this update arrived. So glad it is here!
Aim support sounds like it would be a big improvement, given the main criticism of this game is the controls.
I think we need a light gun game revival, bring back all the classics
Wow, great news about the Aim support.
@Bagwag82
I was working away from home in Manchester and went out that evening with a colleague to a retro arcade bar and played operation Wolf, in its original cabinet still. Had great fun. I've always had a light gun if available. I used to love operation Wolf on the Sega master system back in the day or later on, on my psone playing time crisis
can you imagine Time crisis trilogy REMAKE on ps4 and ps5
@Vacuumator if you read the tweet linked someone has asked if AIM is supported to which they replied YES 👍
This now when i purchase it... Was waiting on this update
Great news for us Aim owners. I'd love to see a light gun game revival with an actual gun capable of working on modern TVs.
I've heard lots of companies are supposedly working on them but I think it needs a Sony or Microsoft to make an official one to see these games truly back on the agenda.
@gingerfrog I remember playing Operation Thunderbolt in the arcade as a kid, was amazing at the time. Had Operation Wolf on my C64 and was good even there, with a joystick!
I had House of the Dead on my Saturn, with the light gun. Bad graphics, but gameplay was a good match for the arcade. I was great at the arcade game at the time from all the Saturn practice.
If I had a PS move controller I'd try this, but never got around to purchasing one.
so i need PS4 Camera to play it, i cant use PS5 Camera?
@CKFilms I've just finished that but I modded the save file to get infinite ammo & all gun upgrades to make it easier lol
Wow, that's amazing. I need to get this now.
This would rule with a PSVR2 port.
