Way of the Hunter aims to provide an authentic hunting experience. One of the methods developer Nine Rocks Games has adopted to achieve that end is to partner with real-world companies and feature officially licensed weapons.
In the latest trailer for the game, we see an array of rifles produced by Steyr Arms, a firearms manufacturer based in Austria. The Steyr Pro Hunter II, Steyr Monobloc, and Steyr Mannlicher have been recreated in the game as faithfully as possible, modelling each rifle's actual physics and attributes.
Way of the Hunter launches on PS5 on 16th of August, and we recently got a look at the game's take on the Pacific Northwest in another gameplay trailer.

I sometimes wonder how my morals and conscience work towards gaming, as I am perfectly happy to play games like GTA but feel repulsed by hunting games...perhaps I subconsciously value nature over humanity lol
@Adol_Xin Animals are incapable of malice. Look at what humans have done to the world and it’ll be them that will be affected the most. The thought of even virtually hunting them for sport makes me feel a bit queasy. GTA is cartoony at the end of the day (except the stabbing, it’s pretty grim) and you do face consequences for going after civilians. This game actively rewards you for murdering animals. It’s quite the moral quandary.
@nessisonett it’s an interesting situation, because while I love animals in general and my Dachshund in particular, I have no qualms about hunting in a game like Red Dead Redemption. Hunting in a modern setting does somehow more callous, but I can’t really put my finger on why 🧐
@nessisonett Well in that case you shouldn't speask about humans and their deeds. You are one of them so just say: "Look at what I have done to the world". Generalisations work both way
@nessisonett That feels like a sound explanation, wholeheartedly agree to what you said at least!
@Khayl perhaps because back in the day we hunted with a purpose: food, clothing etc. and we didnt exceed what nature provider, albeit debatable.in the Wild west I guess...nowadays it's mainly for kicks and also we know exactly what impact on nature we have.
Will give this a shot. I enjoy hunting IRL so hopefully this scratches the itch that theHunter: Call of the Wild has left... That game is so damn buggy after 5 years of release.

What's up with the bizarre comments in this thread? Little changed over the centuries, except we as individuals have outsourced our share of animal suffering through supermarkets and their suppliers.
This game and others of its ilk are a bunch of pixels. If it keeps actual hunters off the streets/out of the woods for a little, you lot should be applauding instead of trying to apply morals to a video game you won't be playing anyway.
@nessisonett you need to look up Dolphins. They kill for malice. If anything we should be grateful these degenerates don't have thumbs and can't live on land.
@NomNom Well, chimpanzees live on land. They have quite the capacity for cruelty.
And bears...while not consciously filled with malice are absolutely cruel by nature, same with wolves, but bears will eat your guts out slowly.
@Adol_Xin Hunting nowadays isn't mainly for kicks, at least not in the States. It's mainly for population control and to balance delicate ecosystems that'd otherwise collapse, the sport is a byproduct, as well as the animal product which is consumed.
It's better for the ecosystem to have an apex predator, even more so when that predator is regulated and can comprehend law and order.
Rather ride a Steyr bike than having a rifle. Solid Austrian manufacturing.
