Forspoken is a title that has been getting a lot of press lately, some of it good, some of it not so much. The title is being developed by Luminous Productions, of Final Fantasy XV fame, and is set to launch on 24th January on PS5.
In an interview with Spanish-language website 3DJuegos, and as relayed by MP1st, Forspoken co-director Takeshi Terada has revealed that players can expect an average playthrough of Forspoken to take approximately 30-40 hours to complete.
That's specifically to beat the main story, and Terada mentions that Forspoken's endgame will feature plenty of secondary missions and extra exploration to keep players busy. Of course, we won't know for sure until we get our hands on the game to know for sure, as playtime is a tricky metric to nail down.
One cannot discount the marketing spin that developers and publishers often put on playtime, either. Never forget the outrageous claim that Dying Light 2 would take "500 hours" to complete, which was almost immediately walked back to "if you want it to".
What do you think of Forspoken's stated playtime? Are you looking forward to getting lost in the world of Athia? Let yourself be transported to a magical world found only in the comments section below.

Good to know. Perfect length for me.
It's the best length interval for a game of this genre, imo, good choice! It also launches in January, just at the right time, so i can thoroughly finish God Of War Ragnarok and The Callysto Protocol.
Finally, an end to the gaming drought from the past months.
Looking forward to get into all of them!
I heard it'll take 1000 hours to beat the main campaign (if you idle for 960 hours).
Probably about 25 - 30 hours then. Sounds great.
It won't be over in a flash, but it won't drag on for 100+ hours when it doesn't need to either.
30 hours is my perfect length, so if it's on that side perfect
Just like any other game, if it’s quality time then welcome but if it’s a repetitive open world then no thanks.
I ‘get’ the hate towards the Whedon-esque dialogue style… but I’ve always thought the game itself looks really good and have always had it on my radar.
I’m looking forward to break in 2023 with this!
fs 30-40 hours for the main story alone? I was interested but that seems a bit much.
Does this include the 10 hours I'll spend changing nails and capes if I get this game? 😭😭😭
I reckon this is going to score some decent 7/10's and a lot will sadly be put off by that number.
@DrClayman developers tend to exaggerate. I doubt the main story alone will be 30 hours long.
Good ,I hope there's a lot of bumf that will take me upto 100 ,I love me some bumf
As we should know meanwhile, devs always add around 10 hours. So it'll be around 20-30 hours. Which is rather perfect for me for pretty much every triple A game. Forspoken might be a day one game for me after all.
30 to 40 hours? Well if I pay full RRP and don't get the full 40 hours of gameplay promised and finish the game after 30 hours I want a third of my money back! I expect the whole potential 40 hours promised!!
The length of a game doesn't matter to me, as long as the Gameplay is fun, the World is a joy to explore and traverse, and the Story & Characters are engaging, and Forspoken looks to have all of the above based on the Hands-On Preview Footage I've seen.
Also the gameplay is giving me serious InFAMOUS vibes... and I LOVE it for that!
I’m really looking forward to this one. Sure, the meme worthy dialogue has a chance of being terrible from what we’ve seen, but the gameplay looks fantastic. I care more about my games being fun than anything else.
Sounds too long to me.
Keep it 10 or so and I'm good. I moved out of my mother's basement decades ago.
30-40 hours is the perfect length for anything without deep rpg elements.
Good length. Quality over quantity. Looking at you Valhalla
Perfect length for me, games don't need to last into the hundreds to be fun!
