You know, it always seemed weird that One Piece Odyssey never got a confirmed release date despite all of its showings earlier in the year. Tokyo Game Show was, realistically, going to be its last chance of locking down a date — and it has. But unfortunately for One Piece enthusiasts, the RPG is no longer launching in 2022.
One Piece Odyssey is now aiming for the 13th January, 2023 on PS5 and PS4. It seems as though Bandai Namco only just missed out on its original release plans, but at least it's not too far away.
The game is putting in an appearance at the aforementioned Tokyo Game Show this week, so you can probably expect to see some new gameplay soon. In the meantime, get a load of the title's charming new trailer, which we've embedded above,

Good actually, the last few month is jam packed with games. Delaying it to next year gives my gaming time and my wallet some breather.
Also is there any One Piece hardcore fans here? Can someone tell me this games story is covering which arc? Or is this a brand new adventure?
@Leon_93 It's going to be an original story made specifically for the game. I think it was written (or at least overseen) by One Piece's author.
@Leon_93 This is an original story that was either written or overseen by Oda, the manga's author. It does seem to take place after the timeskip, too, since the characters are in their post-timeskip outfits and the pre-timeskip outfits are a preorder bonus.
@Mylo I read the majority of the manga as it was releasing, but only recently started watching the anime. It's definitely a long one, but I personally think it's one of the better anime/manga out there, especially of the Big 3 (Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece).
Honestly expected it to be out in 2023. But not January. The fact we had no date for ages and only a release year so it pointed towards they weren't sure if they could be done by 2022.
But something to look forward to!
I hope they take all the time they need to make this a good one. I can't say I'm hardcore One Piece fan cause I've only watched what's on Netflix, but what I've seen is absolutely fantastic.
Also, I need a Tony Tony Chopper peaking around a corner the wrong way tattoo someday 😂
This is a brand new self contained story, though i'm not sure how much Oda is actually involved with it. He did design the characters and monsters though.
I'm cool with this delay, it's near the top of my list of hyped games, but it gives me a bit more breathing room.
2022 is already packed for me... but also Already have Forspoken in January for PS5. I have it as a handheld game for my commute regardless.
I want to play it. Hoping they do as nice job in converting it to a turn Base jRPG as Yakuza Like a Dragon was.
The delay is fine with me, these last couple of months are already gonna be jam-filled with awesome games.

@KidBoruto
Such a great "problem" to have 😅
@Agramonte Better to have too many games to play thru, then have none at all I suppose? XD
@KidBoruto
I actually get concerned if my list starts getting empty 😅 it is like there is no food in the fridge.
Quantity and Quality is always great.
@Agramonte Quality over Quality when possible of course
Seriously though, I'm prob gonna have barely played 30% of my backlog by the time I die at this rate lol.
At least if I want to stay on top of my other hobbies and still socially interact with people/have a life.
