With the impending closure of Babylon’s Fall’s servers, pre-owned copies of the PS5 and PS4 online action game have officially reached “junk” status at GameStop. That means the US retailer will chuck out any excess inventory that doesn’t get claimed. Of course, there are already multiple reports of people online who’ve asked for the game and been given it for free.
Ultimately, you’ll only have until 27th February, 2023 to play – even if you do snag a complimentary used copy. And even then, we wouldn’t exactly recommend the experience: we awarded it a 3/10 in our review, describing the long-in-development PlatinumGames project as “truly ugly” with “almost no redeeming qualities”. Ouch!

Get as many copies as you can get, then sell the blank cases on ebay to collectors, profit!
That’s a steep price, I’d have to go into a GameStop.
Now that's its free that should bump up its review score right? 🤔😉
Didn't this game only just come out and it's servers are already going bye bye? That has to be some kind of world record.
Platinum games!!
What happened??!!?!
@UltimateOtaku91 Sounds like you're still tormented, devastated and broken inside from the TLOU review. Time will heal most wounds trust me it does get better 🙂🙃
Man I really want a Nier: Automata 2 or any other Platinum property that isn't this abomination, such a talented studio and they seem to be hanging by the thinnest thread.
@Juanalf Well Bayonetta 3 is at least out next month if you have a Switch.
To think someone out there pre-ordered the £90 Deluxe Version before release.
@Grimwood It absolutely does.
To paraphrase: If you want a useless game for free, talk to a GameStop employee and they might give you one rather than toss it.
@PegasusActual93 came out in February where it was murdered by Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West. In fairness they at least recognized the failure and bit the bullet... eventually lol
Waiting for avengers to end up on here too.
I know Platinum has always been hit or miss but I still can't believe this was developed by them. Truly a great disaster.
YES, FU** Online only titles. Hope more companies learn from this
Free? If anything, they should give us money for even witnessing such an utter disgrace to humanity. Even then, I would only touch it with a pole the same length as all the remaining development time needed to turn it into an actual game put together.
@OthmaneAD my words, friend, my words...
If Platinumgames ever works with S-E again then I only want to see them working on a Nier (or a Drakengard) sequel, and not anything like this sad failure again.

What people often forget is that Platinum have always been pretty hit and miss. For every Bayonetta, Nier: Automata or Astral Chain there is a Legend of Korra, Star Fox Zero or Babylon's Fall. Then there's also a lot of middling stuff that may appeal to a smaller, more niche crowd like Transformers: Devastation, Sol Cresta or World of Demons. Plus if you remove the popular licenses from several of those they would be viewed, purely on their gameplay, far more harshly.
They've always been very inconsistent.
I feel 1:1:1 = Banger : Middling : Skip
Could make an interesting coaster/beer mat?
It might as well go free on the playstation store at this point.
@DonJorginho can ye do that? 💸 entrepreneur
@Danloaded
I don't think it had anything to do with release timing. It was a bona-fide crap game that successfully failed on its own merits. I still wonder what the hell were the developers/game designers thinking.
At first I was gonna criticize PG for always doing good with their work for Nintendo, but lacking with other platforms at times. Then someone mentioned Star Fox Zero (which was either a decade ago or almost). Nier Automata was awesome though. I just wish they cared more for their work with Sony this time around.
@nathanSF oh it would absolutely would have flopped regardless of release date. Like you said game is absolute crap especially from the guys who made metal gear rising.
Well, they are practically free. Gamestop never gives away games even ones they shut the servers down. They sell them for 1 cent.
@Odium I had to go into a GameStop store recently, hasn't been inside one for many years.
Made me remember why I stopped going there in the first place.
@KidBoruto it’s sad how quick they are to remind us of that
@Odium Agreed. The staff was very friendly, but they definitely tried to push merchandise and their subscriptions on me.
I do feel for them though, if they don't they can get in trouble/written up.
@KidBoruto a sad fact for sure about Game Stop.
