There’s a lot of survival horror on the horizon for PS5, but if you’re a fan of the genre, you’ve probably got time for one more. Do Not Open, a self-proclaimed Escape Room-style experience, will prise the PS5 ajar when it launches on 15th November, 2022. It’ll be followed by a “definitive VR version” for PSVR2 next year. There’ll also be a PS4 release, although this will no longer support the original PSVR headset, as had been previously announced.
“In October 1994, three film students disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland while filming a documentary,” the blurb explains. “A year later, their film was found. Venture into a land haunted by the souls of the dead from the fierce and deadly Battle of South Mountain during the Civil War and an infamous witch hunt. And struggle to escape the ‘fictitious’ house of Elly Kedward (better known as Blair Witch), a house you are trapped in, as you search for your wife and daughter.”
According to the press release, the game will favour hiding over fighting, and there’ll be permadeath to retain the tension. In fact, the whole game is procedurally generated to encourage replayability: “Each new game will have a new house layout, key objects will be in different locations, and with over 2,193,360 different puzzle combinations, each playthrough will be a complete experience from beginning to end.”
It sounds ambitious and interesting – and the kind of thing we’d like to enjoy with PSVR2, for sure. Is this on your radar at all? Freak out in the comments section below.

Sounds like an interesting game. I love horror and puzzles so this sounds like a game for me. I won’t be playing it in VR as it makes me sick, but I’ll definitely keep my eye on this one.
Hoping this one ends up good, especially since guillermo del toro is involved. Still, considering it's from playstation talents, I'll tone down my expectations, since usually games from talents, especially horror ones, don't always turn out to be great due to their ambition.
wanna see gameplay first
It’s intriguing, but horror is hard for me in VR because I’m a big scaredy cat in this medium. It’s just too real in a way watching on TV definitely is not.
I might have given it a go if not for the stealth though. That’s just tedious to me in any game unfortunately.
Will the PS5 version include a free update to the PSVR2 version?
If not I'd rather wait
Releasing games for PSVR right now is probably a bad idea, with everyone waiting for PSVR2.
Why not release it on PS5 then instead of PS4?
So another take on the Blair Witch Project? I'm kind of excited but people have struggled to match the original movie's feel. Bloober Team struggled a bit from what I saw so I hope they can do a better job.
I’m normally heavily swayed from procedurally generated stuff (it completely ruins the memorability and weight of things for me personally) but this sounds like a genre and concept that it could work great for.
Kind of like playing one of those off the shelf trivia games I guess except it’s a haunted house with puzzles.
I’ll check this out.
