Hot off the heels of its flashy reveal trailer, Need for Speed Unbound has just debuted a short but sweet look at gameplay footage. It's only about 30 seconds long, but there's just about enough here to get a feel for how the arcade racer will look in motion.
Of course, you'll be able to customise all the special effects on your car as well as the vehicle itself, resulting in some super colourful, wonderfully stylish visuals. The street art-inspired effects will fill the screen as you zoom around the open world, and it's looking pretty darn slick.
Hopefully we get a more in-depth look at gameplay soon. After all, the game is only weeks away from launch, arriving on 2nd December on PS5. What do you think of Unbound's new gameplay snippet? Tell us in the comments section below.

Nope, not for me. Waiting for Most Wanted remake.
The more I see of these cartoon effects, the more I don't like them. They seem distracting. Not great in a game where you constantly have to keep an eye out for traffic coming the other way.
So glad they confirmed the effects can be completely turned off. They're neat but I'm sure the novelty will wear off quickly. Happy they giving us options!
@itsfoz @pushL7
The Need for Speed Twitter just confirmed that we can disable the effects.
This might be the first NFS game I buy in well over a decade.
@voyager Thanks that's promising.
it looks like the heat level persists when you're off the road, as it's displayed in the customisation screen. There also seems to be 2 money pots/banks during the night gameplay. I wonder how much of the day vs night cycle they're bringing back from Heat?
I just hope escaping the police is a little more creative then it was in Heat, doing jumps, moving onto outrunning + doing jumps once you're quick enough
@redd214 where is there confirmation you can turn those ridiculous and distracting nonsense off?
@KundaliniRising333 click on the tweet, it's the first reply
"Yes, you can turn the effects off. In fact, you can choose to never put them on in the first place. Just like any other part of a car"
I like the effects. Gives it a bit of personality.
@redd214 nice!
Love this and pretty excited to try it.
The effects are great looking but I've feeling they will be turned off for me after a while.
Bring it on...
Love the new effects, something different
The flashy effects themselves may be a reason I end up purchasing this. Looking good!
People complaining about the effects. Are you lot aware, that the NFS Underground 2 short TV commercial showcased these effects in the ad? I mean, you can now add those same effects wile playing, with the option to turn them off. Pretty decent I would say. They just need to make sure the handling model isn't so severely arcadey.
These effects are definitely splitting the audience for this one, it might even bring in a whole new one.
The more people playing the more chance of updates and new vehicles.
Kinda worried about how close to release this was left before any advertising... I thought it had been delayed into next year.
If you can turn them on or off, then who cares? If you love them, rock them, and if you hate them, drop them.
Now I want to see more gameplay. This is the most we've seen so far, and it's still not a lot.
Noone talking about the engine sounds? Awesome!
@ORO_ERICIUS yeah man they sound so…like car engines !
@itsfoz 2012 says hello. It was already remade.
The effects looks cool i like it.its like a comic book look.need for speed unbound looks n.i.c.e.word up son
I’m iffy on the effects but I’m definitely interested for the first time in years over a NFS game.. preordered Payback then got my money back before I played it
Looks cool, although seems like the brief was "what elements can we create to sell as microtransactions?" and they came up with cartoon tire smoke and wings when you take a jump lol
Glad you can turn them off but I know I won't ..I want whacky races meets NFS all-day
As a NFS player since 1997's NFS2, it's been depressing to watch the franchise go the Lindsay Lohan route. Do people honestly prefer to see jobless punks drifting and nitro'ing cars with ridiculous appendages and tubelights stuck under them around non-descript city streets over cutting-edge supercars blasting around unique tracks from exotic locales around the world the way it used to be until NFS5 Porsche Unleashed?
@SBan83 I'm with you dude. FZR2000 > Suped up Honda Civic.
Looks super stylish. In the meantime, I'm pretty hooked for this new entry. And it's not Ghost Games anymore.
I like cell shading as a graphic style but I'm really not a fan of all the cartoon stuff coming out of the car.
