PSVR2’s official instruction manuals are being printed ahead of the product’s launch next year. The images of the paperwork, shared on Twitter, include a 2023 copyright notice and some minor details on the specifications. As spotted by virtual reality fanatic Brad Lynch, it looks like Sony has brought down the overall weight of the headset, with the devkit weighing in at 630 grams and the final product coming in at 560 grams. That’s a huge and very welcome reduction!
There’s not a massive amount we can infer from the documentation really. It shows how the PSVR2 headset connects to the PS5 console using the single USB-C port on the front of the system. It also makes many references to the PSVR2 Sense Controllers, practically confirming that they will be bundled with the headset – although this was always expected.
Perhaps the most exciting thing here is that the product must be nearing launch now, with the platform holder seemingly preparing to build up inventory. It’s reported that the manufacturer could ship as many as two million headsets at launch, which is a huge number considering the current install base of its new-gen console.

I still need to finish a few games from my VR backlog. This will get me even more hyped. Can't wait.
Can't wait but I'll need to try it first because I easily get nauseated, so hopefully I can try a demo unit.
I still hope for a Playstation show, where could be more info on PSVR as well as some new game reveals. Or details about upcoming games too.
Potential screen burn in?! One con in an ocean of pros.
Sooo looking forward to this bit of kit…I never owned PSVR1 (nearly bought one on impulse for £60 yesterday but reigned myself in!) So this will be a big deal for me. I am assuming that the best games for PSVR1 will be released on PSVR2 sooner or later non?
@SirRealDeal I can't see it being a huge issue, a lot of VR doesn't have static UI or menus, and it's also less likely to be used for 8-10 hours at a time, so a lot less potential than monitors and TVs, where the issue has been somewhat overstated
@Dr-M yes I got very dizzy and nauseous when I had mine. I wanted to like it but the constant bouts of dizziness every time I put it on was a deal breaker.
I'm so desperate for VR2 news that even this was an exciting read.
@Dr-M I found out get nauseous from first person games... ☹️
@Pedski £60 is a bargain. Even just to play the games that wont get ported/re-done or whatever its called over to PSVR2
@Kingleo31 it really depends on the game. If something like Beat Saber makes you nauseous, then yeah, it's definitely not for you. But if it's something like Skyrim, then you may need to give other games a chance. I can't play many VR games, but I have no problem with others. And those other ones make it all worth it.
@Kingleo31 This makes me sad, the technology and immersion is daunting but sadly it seems it isn’t for us.
@Flaming_Kaiser what about other games?
@naruball totally Agree
Definitely can depend on the game. The only things that got me a little squirrely were some cheap luge demo game that had a lot of fast and jagged up and down movement.
The other was surprisingly some option on RE7 that made the graphics even smoother. Which one would think would be better, but my eyes started feeling wonky. I still had smooth motion on and switched back the option (forgot what setting it was).
Takes some folks a while to get VR legs
Something that helped a couple of my friends was acting out the movement slightly. Ie looking left in VR actually turning your neck a little bit with your eyes. Could get into the science behind that (physiology/kinesiology background) but I’ll stop there.
My only experience with vr was a brief go on a friend's on the ps4...can't say I was thrilled by It....but I think I will be getting this depending on the price
@Dr-M No first person is the problem i read about it play in a we lit room and take brakes to train. Dark games in firstperson are even a bigger issue.
Can't wait to try and buy in the pre-order lottery so I can scalp a couple of fckers on eBay for them 👍👍
Less weight is good. Really hope this model is Keto friendly
@Discol76 Yea after checking eBay I think you maybe right…It may be worth it just to check I don’t get the motion sickness thing and the games that don’t get a port over..thanks for the push in the right direction 👍🏼
What does PSVR1 weigh?
@Kingleo31 it gets better later on. At first I could only play static games and 10 mins at a time, but now an hour of an action game with smooth walking is not an issue. Just don’t try to force yourself to keep playing past nausea, as soon as it gets bad just take a break
Anyone else read that title and think sony was cutting the weight of the psvr manual?
Ok just me then!
@NeonPizza same. VR is the most exciting thing in gaming for me now, when I first tried it I was gobsmacked despite the low resolution. Can't wait to see what a more powerful set looks like
@Dodoo I actually did at first
@NeonPizza That’s fine that you feel/felt a certain way at a point and period of time, but know that it is subjective and does not represent everyone and doesn’t have to either - to each their innocent own and filter extent of what they more or less prefer and can get to enjoy for them.
Because each of different varying and various viewpoint styles are valid for different people - with varying different situations, ability and dispositions for which ones, ie first person, third person, vr and the perspective it puts someone in, top down/isometric, 2d, etc.
I personally have and can still enjoy them all; each bring their own unique perspective and experience, more or less distanced between viewpoints to engage and fine for various different people at varying points and periods of time.
Some people just have too much nausea, can’t/don’t want/have a harder time to if possible get the hang of/use to the perspective or not, and/or their personal ability prevents them (ie some even just don’t prefer first person on tv/monitor, and if so this or that tis fine for them).
But I have myself acclimated and enjoyed vr for a few years now, and know and appreciate the function and perspective it offers - it has its own unique way, and the others have their own individual unique valid varying viewpoint way that different people have and can experience and enjoy.
For me personally I can switch off between vr and/or various traditional flat screen gaming, videos, etc. Perhaps if one gets burned out for time/at a moment in time the can consider to step back and take a break from gaming for a period, rest and relax, take care, do other things, then can come back to which/whatever when ready and want.
And I personally am still good with some good ol retro, classic styles games and experiences to; coexisting with vr and/or non vr, traditional stuff people have been just fine to experience for decades for various different people of various walks, dispositions, situations and capabilities and dispositions. Allow what oneself and what others innocently manage, can and able for each their own.
I personally look forward and will preorder psvr2 if I manage to; and for those that don’t necessarily want or need for vr that’s fine too. Each respecftully enjoy their own. Regards.
@Sequel I personally enjoy switching off between varying, various gaming options at varying points of time depending on my dispostion, so ie VR, traditional first/third persons, top down/isometric, and 2D as I can and do have the capacity to go back and enjoy some retro, classics. Then back to some VR if/as incline whatevs.
Both vr and traditional ways all valid for me, and what/whichever options for various other decent peeps at varying different dispositions, physical and personal experience capabilities, points and periods of time.
Just give me full VR support on GT7 and Ace Combat and I'm set for life.
@Pedski Did you add any of the PlayStation Plus VR games to your collection?
@Discol76 No I didn’t…I only bought it today and completely forgot about the PS+ games!…Thanks for the reminder…been really enjoying Moss and Doom so far 👍🏼
@Pedski Fantastic. Welcome aboard 😊
