Supermassive Games has made the decision to delay The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR out of its original release date of 22nd February 2023 alongside the PSVR2. Instead, it'll now arrive a few weeks later on 16th March 2023. The studio says the delay is so the virtual reality title can receive further polish in the lead-up to release.
Dubbed the developer's "most ambitious VR project to date", which includes Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, the game will span five on-rails worlds full of spooks and horrors. "Thank you for all your excitement and patience — it really means the world to us," reads a statement published to Twitter. "We cannot wait to reveal more about our sinister rollercoaster from hell and watch this space for our new gameplay features video coming very soon."
While this is a setback for the launch of the PSVR2, there are still games like Horizon Call of the Mountain, Fantavision 202X, and Kayak VR: Mirage to look forward to. Will you still buy Switchback VR a few weeks later? Let us know in the comments below.

As I’ve already bought it that’s a little frustrating. But so much to play day one it doesn’t matter too much. Resi8, Horizon, gt7, pistol whip, NMS already owned, which should last plenty long enough. Especially as I’ll also be getting kayak mirage when available. Was also thinking about getting Demeo and S&S 1&2…and Moss 1&2 thinking about it…
Yeah, I’ll be fine. Just give it as long in the oven as it needs.
Edit: saints and sinners chapter 1 is a free upgrade. I’m presuming the ps plus version counts, so maybe don’t buy the bundle unless told it doesn’t if you claimed the plus version.
Edit2: Skydance confirms those who got it on PS+ will also get the upgrade for free.
I'm almost sure saints and sinners was also up for the day 1 release, I checked the store a few days ago and that's now releasing a month later as well
Shamw was looking forward to playing it day one, but plenty to play so not too bad.
@Yozora146_ Nah, Walking Dead has been March for a few weeks now. Still preordered it and Switchback. Plenty to play at launch anyway.
Absolutely I will still be buying it but holding off on the preorder for now. My wallet thanks Supermassive Games.
@Yozora146_
S&S was always March. It’s why I pre ordered Switchback instead of it funnily enough, lol. That and because I wanted to wait until the 1&2 bundle was available, and that took a while.
Maybe it's a good thing? I loved the previous games, and this way it might not get lost/overlooked with all the high caliber launch day titles?
Looks amazing, the reason I want PSVR 2 at the moment.
That’s a shame as this would have been my day 1, best that it’s polished and working right though.
@thefourfoldroot1 where did you read WD: S&S 1 is a free upgrade? I own it on PSVR1 and have been anticipating confirmation of its upgrade mode, l but thought it was TBA still...
EDIT: nevermind, i just stumbled across the news on Youtube. Thats great, i was wanting to replay this before Ch.2. Such an awesome game, will likely look great on the new headset...
@ThorsHammer
Skydance (via Polish Paul VR YouTube channel).
They do say those “who already purchased the game in PSVR” can download a free PSVR2 version, so the wording leaves room to exclude those who didn’t purchase it, but got it via plus. We’ll see.
@thefourfoldroot1 yep, i caught it via Polish Paul too (he seems to be the only person to have picked up on it so far). True, it sounds vague for PS Plus owners, i did pick it up day one myself, so im set...cant wait.
Not too bad of a delay, thanks for sharing the news!
