Monster Hunter Rise is out now on PS5 and PS4. Having already existed on Nintendo Switch and PC for what feels like an age, Capcom's latest is a bit late to the party, but at least the port's pretty much flawless. Boasting 4K at 60 frames-per-second performance on PS5 in particular, this is a great way to get your hunt on.
Naturally, the action RPG's been handed a hype launch trailer in time for release, which we've embedded above. It gives you a quick rundown on everything you can expect, and reiterates that the Sunbreak expansion is still scheduled for spring.
We gave Monster Hunter Rise a very impressive 9/10 in our recent PS5 review. "Monster Hunter Rise is the new standard for the series, and it's a delight to finally have it on PlayStation, thanks to the improved frame rate and visual fidelity over the original release," we concluded.

It’s such a good game, enjoyed it more than MH:W.
It's great but playing on Game Pass why spend loads of money when I can play for next to nothing.
Great pick by Microsoft
Gonna spend the weekend playing this.
Would love to get this but the reviews say there’s no tutorial helping you along and looks pretty difficult overall for someone whose never played one. Shame.
Cant wait to jump in tonight! Got the crew ready to go.
The filters are the first thing they advertise in the trailer? ok... And the cutscenes are still locked to 30 fps, It is very jarring.
@KaijuKaiser That's the way it goes. For the most part, third-party exclusives rarely stay permanently exclusive anymore, and eventually get ported elsewhere. It pays to be patient if you have a strong platform preference.
@Stonecold This is pretty much the most accessible entry in the series. All Monster Hunter games have a learning curve, but I think you'd probably be fine if you started here. And if you have any questions, I've found the online Monster Hunter community to be very helpful.
Hype. I only really had a chance to walk around the village hub and do a few side quests but great music so far. And I love how my palamute looks in cutscenes. Can't wait to dig more into this game
The difference to playing this on ps5 rather than switch is night and day
Over 200 hrs on the switch version and will be doing it all over again on the ps5. The extra res boost and ease of communicating in a party make it more than worth it imo.
@Stonecold There is a tutorial and the game explains every new mechanic as they appear. Also Low Rank what is like the starting stuff has been purposely designed for new players and is pretty forgiving.
@Stonecold easily the most accessible game in the series, whoever is putting that information out in a review is bad at their job.
@Cyberpsycho thank u for saying that! thats exactly the reason why gamepass will be the downfall of gaming. one day when microsoft owns all the companies and everything is on gamepass free then no one will buy games and it will turn into online only microtransaction filled cash grabs since they have to make some income. gaming will die cuz of microsoft and gamepass. i like many others want good games and u know how u get those? by buying and supporting said games.so i will buy rise just like i did world on ps consoles and actually support it
@KaijuKaiser Same here. I bought Rise on Switch for $30 New during a sale, thinking it'd never be coming to PlayStation.
Now I'm going to wait for the PS5 version to drop down to $20 New during Black Friday 2023 or later.
