Well if Sony is gonna continue acting like they have no first party exclusives, leave it to the voice actors to do the work.

The first was one of the few Sony first party games I actually finished, along with the first horizon. But the same formula meant I got bored shortly after starting MM, and didn’t even bother to start HFW. This will really need to offer something different.

I can see them making this “rumored” September date (didn’t Australia already announce it anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️) as they only have 1 console to have it run on, and this is technically their 3rd game counting MM, so you add an experienced dev group w/ a specific piece of hardware you should be able to hit your target.

@Dezzy70 Well Ninty does need to announce a game, any game, after Pikmin 4 in July, and it has been 6 years since the last new 3D Mario (a decade for new 2D and Kart) so it is possible. Don’t even have a new Pokémon this year, just some dlc. 130 million Switch need some new games for the holidays.

@Rukkz zelda comes out in May so that's not an issue. And I really don't think Sony would move spiderman for starfield! If anything it would be the other way around! Spiderman is a massive franchise!
As much as I'm looking forward to Starfield, I'm not expecting a great polished experience on release, Spiderman 2 will be.

@Dezzy70 @rjejr I think September will be given to Metroid, either Prime 2 Remastered or Prime 3 Remastered (in the latter case Prime 2 Remastered being shadow dropped in June).

The first one really disappointed me from Insomniac, and I'm not a Marvel/Spidey fan so I'm in it wholly for what Insomniac brings to the table, and not the brand. If it looks much better though I might bite. I won't get my preorder pin this time though.

If this is true, I can't imagine Insomniac would want it revealed like that. Unless he was given permission this is quite shoddy behaviour from the actor.

With how Sony is such mutes nowadays. If we didn't get leaks like this we would never get Playstation news.

Was one of the games I was looking forward to the most when I got a ps5 ..both Spiderman games....was quite disappointed tbh though ..they where okay but I guess I was expecting quality of the Arkham games and I dont think they hold a candle to them....still looking forward to trying this one though

Spider-Man 2 is gonna be yuge! Loved the first game but enjoyed Miles Morales even more. If they up the stakes this time with the story, it could be something really special.

@Ken_Kaniff I still remember the time when people were mad because Sony used to show the same games over and over again and also they use to show only cinematics.

If they aren't showing things is because there is nothing to show. Don't forget that we are barely starting to close de covid era, a lot of work was delayed. God of War for example as impressive as it is still feels like a ps4 level designed game and the reason it's pretty simple, it wasn't meant to be released in the start of the ps5 third year.

Yes I think they must have a big game for end of 2023 or who knows Switch 2 or even Switch Pro.
With a Switch Pro it would stay in the Switch family and count as Switch console sales.

I feel like I'm the only one on the planet that doesn't really like Spiderman as a character, and thought the game was disappointing in its repetitive Ubisoft like open world design. Rife with boring side content, and the 'do this to reveal more and more icons to chase..... 'consisting of of repetitive collectible gathering and side garbage.

I do wonder if I did like Spiderman cheese, maybe I would like the game more? I just don't see how the very basic and stale design is so overlooked when remembering this game. I do worry Spiderman 2 will play it safe, do the exact same thing and end up feeling less than it could have been much like Horizon Forbidden West, and every assassins creed game in the last 10 years.

I really wanted to love Spiderman, and fell into fomo and bought the remastered and miles morales. Spiderman was such a disappointment that I never even booted up miles morales. Really bounced off this IP like a brick wall.

Is morales a better game or a trimmed down bit of more of the same?

@twitchtvpat really curious on how much the leap is going to be graphically and hopefully the city's bigger and somewhat different we just had two games set there. Really wonder if a multiverse will come in play to change it up.

Both games are much better when you ignore the side quests and just play the main story.

The stories are pretty solid and they are well paced. But the side content is monotonous.

@OrtadragoonX yah I have such a problem with that. I love open worlds to explore and frequently find myself going on tangents, then fall victim to the repetitive sourced open world burnout.

Perhaps I'll give it another try focusing just on the story alone.

What difference does it make? If they don't show gameplay because they're trying to hide how bad it is, then yeah, that's bad. If they embargo reviews until release day (after preorders can't be cancelled), then that's a big warning sign. I don't think that's likely from Insomniac, but we'll see.

But if they don't want to pump the hype months before it's going to be released, and instead wait until it's close and you can preorder, I can respect that.

@OrtadragoonX Monitor that's an understatement, the open world is terrible. It's bland enough in the main game but in miles it's like watching paint dry except you're mashing square while doing it.

@KundaliniRising333 You're not alone. Like I said earlier I don't care about the marvel or spider ip, 8 bought the game on preorder because I trusted insomniac completely but I thought the actual game was a big disappointment. I still assume Disney is the problem but who knows.

@RobN if they wait to show anything until August than I don't respect that. We haven't seen anything new first party, the only 1st party game we know coming this year is spiderman 2. It's time for Sony to start showing things. The horizon dlc comes out next month and all we've seen was a teaser back in December.

Easy choice what to play first. Spider-Man 2 it is. Primarily for two reasons, one Insomniac’s games are polished at launch Bethesda not so much. Secondly, Spider-Man 2 is likely a short 8 hour ride I’ll complete in a couple of days tops.

They already mentioned Fall in the official PS Blog last year, so this isn’t a huge surprise. Wonder if there’s a dedicated State of Play in August.

I’m kinda tempted to just skip all the preview coverage content for Spider-Man 2 and just jump in blind when the game comes out. Loved the first game and everything else Insomniac has put out since, so I trust on them to deliver with this one as well.

I've seen every single gen of gaming since its inception, and there was none of this in the early days. It started rearing its head in the early Saturn vs PS days and has been a nuicence since.
I was already in my early thirties 25 years ago, and was working on a 'James Pond' sequal on the game gear and a 3d racing game for the Atari Jaguar when I first started noticing unwarranted tribalism. Shame it never went away.

@KundaliniRising333 Completely agree, I got it after hearing so much positivity and I genuinely felt like I was playing some generic, forgotten open world game from 2008. It was such an odd contrast to what people here made it out to be. And yeah, the character doesn't work for me anymore. He used to be my favourite Marvel character about 20 years ago. As I've got older I can't really see any appeal. He's basically just a ***** who likes swinging on a rope and making cringeworthy "witticisms".

Spider-man 2 will be an (optional) 2 player open world game.

You and a friend will be able to play as Miles & Peter and swing around NYC at the same time.
Story missions can be done together with boss fights using a bot for single players (or just on your own if decided).

That will be the 'new thing'.

@KaijuKaiser looking forward to Atlas Fallen, Lies of P, maybe starfield, Lords of the Fallen, and FF 16 for the rest of this year. Beyond that though we know really zero coming on the horizon from PlayStation or much else really aside from the too little too late live service stuff.

I enjoy PlayStation exclusives and have never owned another console since PS1 era. 100% completed GOW 2, horizon 2, and Ghost. Loved returnal. In fact I've literally tried every playstation exclusive in the last two generations except for ratchet and clank.

This is what I'm saying man. It's OK to enjoy something and still see room for improvement or be able to call out BS trends on the platform or in game design at large.

@Titntin Sorry I said "announced" but meant scheduled. It's not tribalism, it's predictive marketing. I was telling Dezzy for months that Starfield would be delayed past June because Sony was going to do Spidey2 for "Holiday 2023" and MS would want their heaviest hitter to compete against it for holday attention. So then they announced Sept, a litter earlier than I thought but it made sense to maybe get it in before the Spidey rush. But then (not announced but) Sony seems to then be aligning Spidey for Sept as well. Maybe they were planning Sept all along and that's why Starfield went with that (since Spidey 1 was Sept)

Point is, no tribalism, I've been predicting the head to head strategy for these "system sellers" competing for months and months.

After all, the only corp who have changed their release date is MS, Sony have not even announced theirs, so Sony didn't conveniently do anything at all, and I'd suggest that painting this news in that light initially says tons about where your head is at.

If you dont think triballism informs much of what you write, then you are entitled to think that, but I wander if you even know what your writting if that's the case, as you are the last person I'd seek an impartial view from.

If you think both companies aren't looking over each other's shoulder to figure out their scheduling based on where the other is expected to schedule, particularly for the big holiday sellers, I've got a bridge to sell you. Of COURSE they are. That's the foundation of corporate espionage. (or in modern MS v Sony just trading documents around the FTC to find out )

I don't do fanboy tribes. I do take note of which company is most or least trying to screw customers at any given time and look at them from that angle, but which company that is changes with the years. I'm not in any "camp" but at times being in no "camp" is viewed as being in the "other" camp by people that are themselves firmly in one camp.

To a Switch 2 that basically acts as a Switch Pro, see Xbox Series X/S which seems like are never going to be next gen, just Xbox One X Pro. Switch had better battery life, Lite and OLED, next is time for MOAR POWER!! And again, I'm ok w/ dual ports for a year or 3 but by year 4 it needs new games, see PS5 which is almost ready to move on to "next gen" status now that GoW:R has released. starting w/ HFW:BS and Spiderman 2. To be on topic. 😉

@Grumblevolcano Neither of those is how you spell Prime 4. 😁 Don't you think we deserve SM Galaxy 2 remastered before we get another MP game remastered? SMG was released what, 2 or 3 Christmases ago, and MP1 just released. Yeah, I'm still hung up on that Mario three pack years later. Hopefully whatever we gt this holiday feels less incomplete. ie MP should have been the trilogy, Mario should have been a 4-pack, or two 2 -packs. But I am expecting something announced in June for sure. Maybe "Nintendo Land" Remastered. 😝

@rjejr It's a plot thing, if Prime 4's story continues on from Prime 3's ending I think it's likely they want Prime 1-3 on Switch before Prime 4 launches. So I figure they'd do something like 1 of these 2 outcomes:

Outcome 1 (gap of around 6 months)

• Prime 1 (February/March 2023)
• Prime 2 (September 2023)
• Prime 3 (Early 2024)
• Prime 4 (Fall 2024)

Outcome 2 (gap of around 3 months)

• Prime 1 (February/March 2023)
• Prime 2 (June 2023)
• Prime 3 (September 2023)
• Prime 4 (Early 2024)

@Grumblevolcano Well you've given this some thought, and it all makes sense, so since this is Nintendo I'll guess we never get 2 or 3 remastered, we just get Prime 4 on Switch 2. Or, they are waiting for 2+3 in a bundle for $70 on Switch 2 before MP4. Whatever makes the least sense.

I'm a little nonchalant b/c even though I've played 1, 2 and 3 I have no desire to play 4 as that series has past it's expected life expectancy for me, I'd rather play a new Bioshock or System Shock. I need more these days than what the MP games offer.

I do realize it's a popular series and will sell well so I follow the news. Who knows, maybe they'll improve it enough, like BotW over Sykward Sword which put me to sleep on numerous occasions, that I'll want it. They did scrap it once and start over so maybe it will be good. 🤷‍♂️

@get2sammyb Sony already leaked it with that Australia advert anyway, right? It said spring 2023, which in Aus is Sept time. This doesn't feel like some super exciting leak. And they can still do the fancy trailer with the end being a reveal, number by number, as they always do, when the date is actually more set in stone. And people will still get hyped for it

@rjejr OMG I just assumed "MP remastered" was the trilogy. That's ONE Game Cube remaster for $40? $120 for the set spanning years if they do it? They're not the Nintendo of Iwata. They're not even the Nintendo of Yamauchi. It's like the Nintendo of Warren Buffet.

I want Zelda, I want Pikmin, I was going to buy Prime remastered when I thought it was all 3, but not for one..... It's getting harder and harder to buy things on Nintendo.

I already played some of Spiderman on PS4, borrowed it from my library for a couple of weeks for my kid to play it, they finished it, and I bought MM for $30 so I think I'm good until Spiderman 2. Not like I have time to play it anyway, finishing up HFW before BS, still own Ghost of Tsushima I never started, Zelda TotK pre-ordered, then Pikmin 4 in July, and I still need to play GoW Ragnarok. I find 1 y😁ear late is the sweet spot for price and not waiting too long.

@uptownsoul Weird flex, but okay. I think Starfield has more to prove and we should all be cautiously optimistic. I have zero doubts Spider-Man 2 will be a stellar game. I'm not a pre-ordering type of gamer but if I had to pre-order a game, and could only pre-order one of these, I know which one I'd choose.

@KidBoruto Well I'll be playing Ghost of T. before GoW:R b/c I own GoT and the upgrade to the Directors Cut, but not the PS5 edition b/c I kept reading it wasn't worth the extra $10, which I paid for the DC so I can pet a monkey on an island. If the upgrade goes on sale for $5 before I play it I may bite. GoW probably a Black Friday purchase this year though I still need to see what Nintendo has planned for the holiday. Though w/ Zelda and Pikmin I'm not sure what else I would want besides a new, not a remaster, 3D Mario game. It's been 6 years.

I've always wondered about that. Pushsquare kind of promoted it as "petting zoo island" but I always assumed there was more to it than that. Maybe I'll find out some day. still have Kingdom Hearts 3 halfway installed on my PS5. Now that I have a new extra SSD maybe I should finish it and play it. I've played KH 1 & 2 and I own a collection on PS4 but I still don't think I own 2.8. Need to go back and check someday. But I may just play 3 and call it a day.
