Square Enix will be hosting a special Final Fantasy XVI event just ahead of its release date. This 'pre-launch celebration' will take place in Los Angeles on the 11th June, and it'll be livestreamed. Outside of this basic information, we don't really know what the event will offer. The publisher says there are "more details to come". Stay tuned, we suppose!
Given the timing of the event, it could be that Final Fantasy XVI's playable demo drops during the stream. Said demo was confirmed quite some time ago, with producer Naoki Yoshida saying that it would launch close to the game's full release. Seems like a perfect opportunity to us.
Think you'll be tuning in for this so-called pre-launch celebration? Pray for that playable demo in the comments section below.

Can almost guarantee this'll be when the demo drops, it's the kinda timing Yoshi-P's mentioned as the ideal time between demo and actual release.
I'll say I won't be watching because I have all the info I need, but I also know I'm weak when it comes to this stuff.
That being said I'm going to be elbow deep in Zelda probably all the way upto the release of FFXVI.
Man, they sure are marketing this game to the gills. I didn’t realize there was going to be a demo too. Not sure how I feel about that. I have mixed experiences with demos. Sometimes they are so lackluster or give gameplay out of context that they end up deflating the hype and causing me to cancel ideas of pre-ordering.
[cough] Forspoken [cough]… 😄
@Th3solution The FF7R demo was basically the first hour of the game and I think it worked very well for that purpose. Unless XVI has a slow start, I'd imagine they could do something similar.
If the save files is compatible or at least I get some exclusive item for the main game, sure, if it's not, I'll just play the full game when it come out.
@wiiware Apparently the demo will have some compatibility with the full game. It'll probably unlock some exclusive items or something, like you say.
Waffling between whether or not to watch this, only because they’ve already given away so much information about the game’s general plot, characters, and world….but also, it’s Final Fantasy, sooooo….
@Voltan Good point. The FF7R demo was nice. I forgot about that.
And even the Forspoken demo was okay, it obviously had a lot of effort put into it, but it didn’t grab me because I had no context for what all these powers and abilities were. So having a good opening section, more like a timed trial, would probably serve better. Like you say, as long as the game opens with a bang. A demo where you play the first couple hours of Red Dead Redemption 2 would have been a disaster. 😂
@ShogunRok Man, I sure hope they show hours and hours of in-game footage — I don't think there's been enough of that yet.
@Andee Hopefully they do a full playthrough at this event!
That'll do pig....that'll do
Maybe this time they'll show those RPG systems they've been saying for months they'll show us "later?"
@KaijuKaiser I wouldn’t want to potentially spoil anything for anyone that is trying to go in completely fresh, but they’ve definitely unveiled certain details in trailers and gameplay presentations that I was surprised by, and would’ve preferred not knowing ahead of time. I’m sure there are plenty of other parts of the game that they’re still keeping close to the chest, but it’s a pattern that we’ve seen with Square before, too (perhaps most recently with FFVII Remake).
That's on my birthday! I'll definitely be watching, and hoping for a demo to cap it off. Should be a great day!
@ShogunRok Nice, I'll play it if there's something for the main game
Is this the event where they announce the release date 2 month delay?😂
@Mintie 10 days is not enough time for a RPG demo to leave a good enough impression imo, but that's just me.
