Update: The big Pinball FX update livestream from developer Zen Studios did not disappoint, as it confirmed quite a lot of new content is coming to the game. It’ll all get underway from 13th April, when two new remastered tables will be available for free: Sorcerer’s Lair and Fish Tales. This increases the number of tables available for everyone at no cost to a total of three, and the console release will be further improved with the addition a Tate mode for a vertical viewpoint.
That’s not all that’s being added on 13th April, however, as the developer’s announced a bunch of tables:
- Crypt of the Necrodancer
- Godzilla vs Kong Pinball Pack (Three tables)
- Twilight Zone
The Marvel Pinball Collection 2 bundle will also be released on 13th April, completing that entire set in the new game. There’s quite a lot for fans of virtual pinball to look forward to, then. Which will you be adding to your collection?
Original Article: We’re not overly enamoured with the direction Zen Studios has taken Pinball FX, but the release is still a veritable treasure trove of virtual pinball, and so there’s still time to iron out the kinks in this latest PS5 and PS4 iteration of the series. Obviously one way to win back goodwill is to release great tables, and so we’re excited to see what the Budapest team has in store in an upcoming livestream.
Scheduled to take place later on Monday, 3rd April, from 10AM PT/6PM BST, the stream promises news on an extra platform (we’re assuming Nintendo Switch), five table announcements, and much more. Sounds good to us!
We’ll obviously update this article once all of the announcements have been made, but you’ll find the video on YouTube from the following times in your time zone:
- North America: 10am PDT / 11am MDT / 12pm CDT / 1pm EDT
- UK/Ire: 6pm BST
- Europe: 7pm CEST / 8pm EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 2am (Tue) JST / 1am (Tue) AWST / 3am (Tue) AEST
- Your Local Time:
Is there anything in particular you’d like to see added to Pinball FX? Trigger your ball saver in the comments section below, and let us know.

Don't support these rip-off devs. The game doesn't support any previous table purchases. Everyone who already spent TONS of $$$$ on tables have to buy them all over again.
Also, many players on PS5 and PS4 have been experiencing constant connection errors, meaning the leaderboards, season rewards, events, tournaments and in-game store are all unavailable. Devs have been working on a fix for over a month.
@Almost_Ghostly yeah, that’s no very cool. I have it on so many different systems too.
Anyone played that gladiator themed pinball game on Sega Saturn? I'd love if they added those tables just for the nostalgia from my younger days. Then I'd actually download the game because I'm not really into pinball.
@JON22 Last Gladiators? I think you can get that on iPhone, or you could at one point anyway.
@Almost_Ghostly These rip off devs who let me import tables I bought in 2013 across two system generations and one handheld free of charge? I’m thinking at some point the dlc I bought more than a decade ago stopped putting food on anyone’s table.
@get2sammyb Yeah that was it. Googled it after commenting. I checked the play store after your comment hoping it would be there like iphone but no luck. Didn't know it was ported to iPhone.
Im in the top 140 for Back to the Future trilogy 💪. Hope we get the Alien tables as the app doesn't work on my current phone.
@Amnesiac And what about things you purchased six months ago? It’s not like we all bought a ton of DLC a decade ago and stopped.
@glassmusic You still have access to the games that the dlc was originally purchased for, don’t you? Quite frankly, playing Pinball FX3 on PS5 is a better experience than the newly released Pinball FX, which needs a ton of polish. I might get some of the new tables for Pinball FX, but my old tables are doing fine right where they are.
It would be great if they could fix the awful lag on ps5. I purchased the Addams family and it's unplayable. No issues with fx3 at all. They clearly did zero testing on ps5
Since there's already a sale tells you people aren't buying again (although six Bally tables for £13 is tempting) but if the new ones are what TPA already made when they had the licence I won't be buying any of the new releases.
The new version is a complete mess, horrible interface, tables are dark on PS5. A real shame because the potential is huge if they can license more real world tables and bring to PSVR2. Hopefully Zen can turn this around.
I'll be sticking with my almost complete PS4 / Pinball FX3 collection I think.
No way am I going to rebuy that lot again when they look and play just fine on my PS5.
@Almost_Ghostly
Absolutely agree! And moreover I haven't found the FX slightly improved than previous version. No RT, 120fps or VRR (at least I haven't found it in settings)
@Amnesiac THANK YOU! It baffles me when people forget that they have been doing things free of charge for years. Now that they have added AA, better lighting, etc they want to be compensated for their hard work. Now granted, Zen's delivery on these new prospects hasn't been the greatest, but I definitely agree with them charging this time.
It amazes me how badly they're ripping off everyone who bought tables off them before, such as myself. I refuse to buy the same tables I already got again just because they decided to release an update. It shows a complete lack of respect for their customers.
Updated with new content.
@Rafie @Amnesiac When you purchase something, that should be, you know, A PURCHASE. Seems ridiculous to have this attitude that their longtime customers should be forced to buy the things they have already bought again just because the developer put work into updating something. I can't count the amount of games I bought that had major updates, usually if they want me to put any more money into them that comes in the form of a newly released DLC for me to purchase. Expecting everyone to buy everything again just feels like they are blatantly trying to rip everyone off, because they are. You aren't going to win over too many old customers with "you can still play the old versions" when it comes to supporting the new one. All they had to do was come up with some new content, and allow everyone to download their old content, to keep everyone happy. But they wouldn't do that, because they got greedy. Greed is not an acceptable standard, and it should never be rewarded.
I don't have a serious problem with them keeping the old game playable and charging for the new one, even for the tables you already own on the old game. If (when?) they drop support for the old one, though, then they deserve criticism.
I'm not so sure it's a good-faith effort to not even try to offer a discount if you've already purchased those tables before, though. Just as they deserve money for new work to provide new features, don't their customers deserve a discount for supporting them before those new features were available? A reasonable upgrade discount would go a long way towards silencing the criticisms.
Wording of the title got my hopes up a bit. I thought Crypt of the Necrodancer and Twilight Zone were the two free titles.
@tangerinedreamer But they did put a note at the start telling us to set our TVs to game mode, because apparently we're stupid.
@RobN Well technically speaking, them no longer allowing you to download the tables you already bought with the latest Pinball FX release is them dropping the support. They can't remove your ability to access stuff you have already purchased, as the old FX games were always made to work offline, and Sony always lets you download anything you have on your account.
By most measures, support has been dropped with this new FX release.
@JayJ That's twisting the facts a bit. New game not supporting content for the old game is not the same as dropping support for the old game.
You can still play FX3 on the newest console (PS5), and it still runs great (some say better than the new game), and you can still download - and even purchase - tables for that version. So long as they still support the old game (FX3) and don't pull it from the store, I'm cool with it.
Yes, I'd prefer content I previously purchased is unlocked in the new game - or at least offered as a discount. But so long as my access to the old game isn't removed, it's not a big deal. I still have what I paid for.
@awp69 Ah my bad, sorry about that.
@RobN I think it's disingenuous to call this a new game, it's a glorified update when you really get down to it. That's like saying Overwatch 2 is a new game, when it was clearly just a big update for Overwatch. Only difference here is how it isn't a live service game that got updated, but the Pinball FX launcher is basically just that, a launcher for content that you purchase. Considering how the vast majority of that content is old stuff that a lot of people bought before, some fairly recently, it's really just them trying to sell the same thing twice.
No matter how you try to justify it, this is simply a poor way to treat customers as well as an example of greedy and predatory tactics.
Still don’t like not having to buy the tables all again, but I do understand it. Also not a fan of the subscription service; it’s not worth the price they’re charging for it.
But TATE mode? On PlayStation? They may have gotten me there.
As one of the few people in the world who’s crazy enough to install a rotating mount for my 58” TV — in order to play vertical shmups and pinball — and someone who prefers to play on PS5, this is the most welcome news. Mind you, it would’ve been way better if they put TATE mode into FX3, where I already own a lot of tables. But it might be enough to have me keep an eye out for sale prices on the tables in the new FX.
Even at the extortionate pricing, if they were to put this in VR, I would pay it. I've been dreaming of a PSVR2 pinball game, that properly uses the trigger feedback since I got it. That's a niche that needs filling!
Hi All, - Would a small charge to Upgrade your existing Tables be a fair trade-off ....? - that way you could Update those you enjoy Playing and experience the new features - Generally, I am more than happy with the Original FX3 on PS5, and it would take a decent incentive before I consider an Upgrade.
@Templedoom Yup, a lower upgrade fee would be great. Anything is better than having to buy full price again. Most of the individual tables cost more than most indie games.
I would also be happy with FX3, if they had a TATE mode. That is the feature that I would consider upgrading for.
@Ouch yep which unfortunately makes zero difference on the Addams family table. It's the same lag also when using a gaming monitor. How they got away releasing this in its broken state is a mystery.
@Amnesiac Yup.. Rip off devs that want me to pay for the same tables after having already bought them for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo platforms. That's three purchases of all of the tables I own. I've already put food on their tables. Paying a 4th, 5th, and 6th time to "upgrade" all three platforms would be them taking food off of MY table. And it's not just me. Tons of people have purchased tables across different platforms. They've bled plenty of people dry with this nonsense, they aren't starving. If you think having to pay a total of 6 times for the same tables is a good deal, nothing else you can say on the matter has any relevance.
