After multiple delays, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will actually hit its PS5, PS4 release date of 25th May 2023. It has been confirmed the game has gone gold today, meaning launch day is locked in — unless Daedalic Entertainment pulls a Cyberpunk 2077. With work on the base game complete, the developer's attention will probably turn to making a day one patch for the PS5, PS4 versions.
"The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has gone gold," a new tweet explains. "The team can't wait for you to begin your journey in Middle-earth." Pre-orders will go live tomorrow, so expect the game to pop up on the PS Store in the next 24 hours.
First thought to be releasing in September last year, the Gollum simulator has looked more promising in a few recent showings. A recently released story trailer contained probably the game's best look yet, and now there are just a few weeks to wait until it's out. Are you excited about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum? Let us know in the comments below.

I'll most likely wait for a sale on this one
Well, I've got Diablo 4 in the very beginning of the June. Guess, Gollum will have to wait.
I have absolutely no grasp as to what this game is. Third Person adventure game? Stealth game? Platformer collect-a-thon? I honestly don't know what it is. Hopefully it reviews well but screams 7/10 at me thus far.
Still not sure exactly what to make of this. The team is obviously passionate about LotR and Tolkien lore. I'm assuming it's like a stealth/platformer from the videos I watch. Gollum will have to have some means of combat but I've yet to see it
" We get to make a LOTR game? Omg wow...Woo hooo...yeah..alright!"
"Yeah it's about Gollum"
***crickets***
This was the first 'Next Gen' game I saw announced. Yet everything I have seen about it looks very last gen
@themightyant it looks like an early PS3 game for sure
Game release dates have become so fluid. Long gone are the days of a complete game launching. I’m laughing at the fact that Redfall, with the “no to PS5” BS can’t even launch with a 60 fps mode. Happy to see that this game will be releasing in a (hopefully) completed state.
@themightyant I've always felt that Daedalic Entertainment lacks some big budgets. The can make decent games, but none of them can be called blanket AAA and it is clearly seen from the trailers.
I completely misunderstood the title vat first. Lol. Not on my radar but I hope it's fun
I have a feeling this game is going to bomb and not because its not good ( I don't know if it is or isn't) but because most people don't really know what the game is suppose to be.
We could have at least had a Smeagol backstory game that tells us about his life before the ring or something. No, we get to slink around as the mad and irritating deranged Gollum. It might be better than it sounds, but even if the gameplay is good, the premise is just..... Why would it take the worst, most boring part of the books? Gollum exists, first as a silly antagonist for Bilbo, and later as a foil to Frodo, a ghost of Christmas future and personification of Frodo's inner mind under the influence of the Ring, what he's trying to resist becoming, a mirror of the dark influence on himself, not because he's an interesting character on his own. Who came up with this?
There are just way to many games coming out and not enough time. I love stealth so if I hear they actually did a good job at pulling it off I'll get it down the road when it's under 20. It does look a lot better then I thought it would at least.
Nice, I have been looking forward to this game
still didn't finished Shadow of Mordor, and next stop is Shadow of War.
I think 7/10 is being generous
The precious is gold!
@Ooccoo_Jr The only thing that would make this a day 1 game for me is if we find out that it's a Sims-style game featuring Gollum and his alter-ego (whose name eludes me).
Not sure why so many seem to not think Gollum has a good story to tell.
It's the man who lost everything to temptation, not unlike when a junkie loses everything in life just for that high.
If they can tap into that fight against the Ring's addiction and what it costs him, showing the gradual loss to his morality over that attachment, there's certainly more than enough story to tell.
Stealth games, truly centered on just stealth without the option to slaughter everyone instead, are few and far between these days and I miss them.
I'm about 80% sure I'll buy this. (Need to hear a bit more how it came out on the tech side as far as framerate and glitches.)
I know I'm in the tiniest minority when I have zero interest in Diablo 4 but am optimistically looking forward to this.
@Nyne11Tyme Sounds like you actually do have a good grasp on it.
It is a stealth/light platforming game.
Seems like it's similar to A Plagues Tale in the basic gameplay loop.
I don't think they've shown combat yet, either.
Why would people play one of the worst character in the lord of the ring series? Just to see the death screen at the end? Beyond me.
Sorry but I hate Gollum.
While I'm happy there won't be anymore delays, still don't see myself ever paying full price.
