Today is the day for the PS Plus Essential monthly refresh, replacing three PS5, PS4 games with new ones. Subscribers to Sony's base membership tier can now download and play NBA 2K23, Jurassic World Evolution 2, and Trek to Yomi. If you maintain a subscription to PS Plus Essential, you'll be able to play the three titles whenever you like โ even beyond this month. They're available now in the UK and across Europe, and the USA will gain access later in the day.
When the Push Square community was polled on June 2023's selection, more than 6,500 votes skewed towards the "crap selection" option overall. All the games are considered good to great, though, with NBA 2K23 and Jurassic World Evolution 2 getting an 8/10 review score on the site and Trek to Yomi a 7/10.
There's not too long to wait until the next batch of PS Plus games rolls around, with the PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium line-ups set to be announced next week. What will you play first? Let us know in the comments below.

I'm not seeing NBA 2K23 in the list. Still showing full price in the UK store. Got the others though!
@Lofty NBA 2K23 was not showing in the PS Plus list for me but if you choose the edition it comes up with a PS Plus version you can add to your library
Yeah I noticed that too its something to do with the bundle but ive added the 3 games to my library
Diablo 4... ohh wait, just in case I put Jurassic World into library...
Not the most fun of times to have a US account in Europe.๐
Yomi is incredible obviously but played on Gamepass already of course. Good selection but as always Extra is the thing to wait for, not Essentials
@czDante92 Yup, shooting, the most under represented "genre" in gaming
@czDante92 You can shoot some hoops in NBA2K23. ๐
But yeah, it's crap for me because I didn't like sports games, I do like city builder or Theme Park type games but not on console, and Trek to Yomi looks like the kind of game I put on once, play for 10 minutes that feels like 30 minutes, think "I'd probably have liked this on the Mega Drive when I was 11," and then just never play or think about it again.
Well, itโs a different sort of selection this time and I think thatโs a good thing to appeal to different players. For me personally this is the first or second good month in a year or so, mainly because of NBA.
I think it's an alright selection personally. Happy to get a next gen NBA game (albeit such a huge file size I may not actually get to install it)! Yomi I tried on my son's Xbox for 10 mins last year and it seems decent enough and JP, I have the first one and never really played it, so doubt I will this one either but you never know!
I don't see the sports games as being bad additions personally. People like different things. I can't stand JRPG kind of stuff, or even COD etc but have had a load of those games dumped in my lap via PS Plus over the years!
Thanks for the reminder, I went ahead and added Trek to Yomi!
