Natsume’s iconic NES side-scroller Shadow of the Ninja – also known as Blue Shadow in Europe – is being revived by Tengo Project, the team behind remakes like Pocky & Rocky Reshrined and Wild Guns Reloaded. Due out in Spring 2024, the release promises “painstakingly crafted pixel art graphics” and an updated soundtrack, created by original composer Iku Mizutani.
“The acclaimed two-player side-scrolling ninja action returns,” reads the press release. “Players can choose between two characters, male or female, each with their own unique abilities, and work together to overcome formidable foes.” There’ll be a demo on display at the Tokyo Game Show towards the end of September, so expect to see lots more gameplay there.

Hell. Yes! I played this so much as a kid; I can’t wait for this.
Great news!
Have the original on wii u and I LOVE all of their remakes so far. I mean the quality, both the respect of the original material and the enhancement at the same time are like the perfect match for good old classics.
It will be another great time from Natsume for sure.
Showing my age but hell yes! I'm stoked for this one!
Have to wait for an opportune sale discount on Pocky & Rocky reshined but quite the sucker for retro games being done right,so fingers crossed!
